When should I do the DLCs?
Just wondering if there's a sensible time to do the DLCs? I've come across the guy who offers to take me to Ariandel at the Cathedral. No idea about Ringed City one yet.

In terms of progression, I just beat Aldrich.

Should I do the Ariandel one now?

I'm level 35.

Sweet. I'm going to try it now. I might be lvl 35 but I've got a +5 Broadsword so I don't imagine I'll have too much trouble.

The DLCs are supposed to be done with a higher level and higher upgrades, it's supposed to be "endgame content". Ashes of Ariandel isn't that hard to go through, since it's relatively short, but alot of the enemies there will 100% see that you get your as* handed to you with your level and upgrade.

Lvl 60-80 Ashes of Ariandel and Lvl 100-120 Ringed City

I went in at about your SL and completed both DLCs, ringed city is a great place to grind out to SL120 as well for when you're ready for end game.

Yeah, we'll see. Broadsword +5 remember?

My strength is at 25 and this sword hits like a truck. What are they gonna do? Not die?

I don't want to lvl up anymore. This is my 2nd playthrough (not NG+ and first time doing DLCs) and on the first I was at Lvl 87 and I felt way overlevelled. That said, I used the Broadsword last time as well, but it was +10 so that probably made things easier.

I'm sorta wondering if the DLCs go ahead and tie up the story somehow. I don't actually know anything about them.

In that regard, is it better to maybe do Ashes now and The Ringed City after I beat the main game? Or maybe both DLC after the main game?

Or does it just not matter?

The DLCs are kinda their own story, although some item descriptions give some backstory to the main game's characters.
Ashes says directly on a dev sign that you should have explored "the depths of Lothric Castle" before going in, which is SL 60-80 with a +7-9 wep. Ringed City is definitely endgame content, SL 100-120 with a +10 for sure.

Oh, the bit about Lothric castle is good to know. I just beat the Boreal Dancer, so I think I'm almost at Lothric Castle. I'll do the Ashes DLC after I've beaten Lothric Castle I think. Then maybe Ringed City right after.

So I went and did Ashes. Was freaking awesome. Loved the snow and the new enemies.

Took me about an hour to beat the final boss. Problem was my guy could only take maybe 1-2 hits before dying. The final form of that boss gave me fits.

Gonna do the Duke's archive, beat the final boss and then hit up Ringed City.

Question: I'm going for that ending where you kill the firekeeper. Does that make any difference with anything? I can still do the DLC after I do that, right?

as long as you don't go into ng+ you can do anything after any of the endings

Awesome. Thanks.

After Ashes, Duke's Archives are way too easy. If Ringed City is supposed to be harder again, it'll be a good way to end it.
