Are the angels in Dreg Heap angels of lothric?

Seriously they where puppets to Londor and Kaath to end the fire and unleash litteral darkness on the world. To call the "angels" is a pretty far stretch.

Except they're just undead creatures spawned from the pilgrim corpses.

Nobody really knows, but it doesn't seem like those things are the gods' messengers ("the Angels") that are worshiped by the winged knights.

Interestingly, the statues of the primordial serpents in the archives do have little wings (and in the Ringed City, they have the bodies of beasts).

Probably not since the "angels" in Dreg Heap do not have feathers and you can find feathers all over a cell suspended in Grand Archives and boss room of the Twin Princes. The angels are probably long dead.

Apparently, gertrude had an angel appear before her and this angel revelaled a tale to her (Divine pillars of light)

And yoel also says that "he failed to die as was ordained" in one of his dialogues, so it seems to me that their pilgrimage mission into the land of lothric to die is specifically designed as part of a plan from the hollows of londor to decieve lothric's inhabitants into not linking the fire by impersonating light in the shape of angels.

Thought their wings still had feathers (They're fairly big wings, no less). They're not membrous like the dragons', unless they're completely materialized by light magic via the Londor Pilgrims, and are simply imitations of Saint Gertrude's angels.

Their abdomens look extremely similar to the bug fellas in that big swamp area where you come across Dragonslayer Armour. Whether or not these 'angels' are an evolution is unconfirmed, but they do seem to be tied to the deformed things.

Who knows, it's all very confusing. Maybe the angels emerge from those deformed things like a butterfly comes out of a cocoon and the 'body' is left behind as a bond to the world where the 'angel' is its soul.

Maybe none of that. Shrug. Your guess is as good as mine.

I'm pretty sure the angel's curse attack is signaled by a small cascade of feathers... Their beams have a sort of light magic vibe to them, as well. I'd have to guess that, due to the importance of the angelic religion/rebellion in Lothric, and due to the general fact that they are the only thing destinctively angel-like (and called angel) thing in the game, that the Londor Dark bug-angels and the angelic religion angels are indeed one and the same. Or at least somehow related. How the winged knights have actual wings is another, and totally unknowable question. Some sort of result of faith magic, maybe?

It's worthy to note that the only other angel-like thing we've seen in the series is also related to the Dark, namely, the Darklurker from DS2.
