If only it didn't take up half the dang screen
Ledo's Greathammer is a good alternative since it has a skill-buff to reach ludicrous amounts of damage, also an unique R2 that releases sharpnel if you fully charge it.
Though, both of these have higher Poise health(if you know what that means) than other Greathammers to make up for their insane weight. This is probably just a bandaid since lighter hammers can get bigger armor for bigger poise yaoe
