Probably the same. B scaling in Str is not great.
Try a "not great" mace. at 5 weight you get a lot more bang for your buck.
Don't understand why a mace get's better STR scaling than a great mace. FROM seems a bit lazy with some of this stuff.
If you play long enough you'll see more splitleaf greatsword than you like.
But the mace is better. Mace and great mace fill the same roll with hyperarmor/perserverance. There are better primary heavy weapons / greathammers to choose from with different WAs that add more utility / damage. Just carry a mace as a backup imo.
I actually finished that run with VordtsGH, but I did consider the great mace. It's just too blah looking a weapon. The spiked worked good up until the Dancer, but after her I shelved it for Vordts.
I tend to prefer ugly, menacing looking weapons instead of museum quality pieces. My next GH build is going to use the quakestone hammer. Ugly as sh!t.
