it can fight the skeletons regardless, thats how i clear that spot out,run around waking every skeleton up and lead them to the demon while it and the mimic fight over who can kill me,usually ending in the mimic dying with before it can even hit the demon twice
the last time i did that though, the demon died from fall damage due to jumping down into the lower part of that spot after killing all the skeletons and the mimic for me,so that was nice of them
just note that it can be tricky to get them aggro'd on to each other and not you,and it being a swarm of skeletons with a towering demon doesnt help either
Rapport is rather amazing, especially when combined with Hidden Body (throw in Dragoncrest ring for no noise to further improve it).
Rapport only works on some enemies. Only one type of those black knights in Ariandel it works on I believe. Use the ring that boosts spell duration for Rapport/Hidden Body to get the most bang for your buck (honestly, quite short without it).
Rapport does wonders on those crow enemies in Ariandel as well. They can even obliterate Vinhelm (or w/e his name is) if lured to the small church/house and used on one of them from the beams (may have to wait for intervavl between his Vow of Silence spell).
Their AI kicks in and overrides the Rapport effect. They usually won't attack you (though there are a couple in the game that will still target you even while charmed), but they won't necessarily do anything useful either.
