Can't Use Great Magic Weapon - Greyed Out

Whenever I select the spell it's greyed out and I can't use it. Does it only work on certain weapons?

Yeah, boss weapons and some unique ones can not be buffed.

But it won't affect any of my weapons. My axe, my Blackknight Sword, or my Greatsword.

Make sure you've got the required stats to use this spell as well as a proper catalyst which is a staff or the crystal chime.

look in the fextralife Wiki if the weapons you are using can be buffed.
Little tipp: if you can not use a Toxic buff item you wont be able to buff it with magic too.

Blackknight stuff can't be buffed like that, and it's probably better to actually tell us the name of your axe and greatsword. That is so unspecific. Some axes can't be buffed, some greatswords can't be buffed.

And if you already put an elemental gem infusion on those weapons, then you can't use spell buffs or even resins on them.

if your able to buff a plain old broken straight sword,you already have the stats and catalyst for it,and your items just cant be buffed

if you cant buff one,get the proper requirements for your buff of choice beforehand,and then try

I was being specific. That's literally what they're called. Greatsword and Hand Axe.

Try post a snapshot here. That will make more people understand your problem.

Here a Checklist:
Is the Weapon without Element? If yes you can enchant it!
-----> If not get a new Weapon

Is the Weapon upgraded with Titanite Shard / Chunks? If yes you can enchant it!
-----> If not you have a "special" Weaon

Is the Weapon on your Right Hand and Catalyst on Left? If yes you can cast a Spell on it!
-----> If not, learn how to use your spells

Is your Int high enough that you can Cast the Spell? If yes, cast it!
-----> If not, level up your Int

Is your FP high enough to pay for the Spell? If yes, cast it!
-----> If not, level up your Attunement (or whatever boosts FP)



You can not use Resins or Enchantments (Spells) on Weapons that are:
-> Infused with an Element
-> Transposed from Souls
-> Upgraded with Twinkeling Titanite or other special Titanite
-> Bows

Nice overview, but you can use buffs on innate elemental weapons such as the lothric knight gs or murky hand scythe.
You can also enchant weapons in your left hand with a staff in the right.
