Depends on your SL. Longsword is superior if you're making a low level PvP build.

The Dark Sword looks ugly, so use the Longsword. It's what I did.

With the right fashion, the Dark Sword can look pretty alright imo

I love how stylish its moveset is tho, them R2s are pretty cool

Guys dark sword is nerfed you know that right?

Longsword is especially good for builds that don't invest a lot into Dex and Str because it's pretty powerful Raw. I'd go Dark Sword for actual STR/DEX builds.

The dark sword is considered to be the symbol of a bad player. It's up to you whether that matters or not.

Just because something was nerfed doesn't mean we should be deterred from using it. It just means that it was altered in what the devs see as being more balanced.

Because people like to hate on various loadouts, even if they're perfectly fine and fair.

It's because most casuals picked the dark sword up when it was the meta, since it was the easiest to use in pve and the most damaging. Post launch of ds3 and every post and video on the internet that every noob looked at said "Dark Sword is best sword". So every invasion and multiplayer encounter consisted of first time dark souls players spamming the r1 of their dark swords.

That's why.

If anything is a sign of poor play from my experience, it's a parry-heavy approach to PvP. Aside from specific invasion situations, parrying is an unnecessary risk.

Man... The actual first melee weapon I started using right after the battle axe from the mimic was the dark sword, I felt so lucky that the thing dropped for me from my first kill on the locked up Darkwraith of lothric high wall, and It definitely looks awesome aswell.

Had to drop it though, even when I was using it standard on a pyro build and not tryharding it's damage, everybody just became retarded when they saw I had it and either pulled a dark sword of their own or an estoc and taunted me to death.
