1 verse for each candle
Look up all the verses and youll get it no problem
After that, I guess it's pretty straightforward: Each verse has something to do with light and darkness (or wind) which indicates that the corresponding candle has to be lit or not.
1) a flame will wither his shoots -> on
2) the sky grew black with clouds -> off
3) blowing of a violent wind -> off
4) as the flame blazed up -> on
5) like the wind our sins sweep us away -> off
6) fire blazed among their followers -> on
If a verse contains it, corresponding candle should be burning.
