how to choose individual unit?

Hi all, I hope someone can help me with this. I have the game on xbox one, And I cant get an answer from kalypso, so I will ask here. Since this says full controller support maybe someone can help. The question is I am trying to pick an individual unit from a squad such as the medic. I know I can highlight the squad with dpad left or right, then I can highlight the medic by dpad down until he highlights. But then how do i select and take control of him? I cant figure out what button to press. Surely there has to be a way to select the unit if it gives me the option to highlight individual units with the dpad. Please help, Thanks.

hmm.. i tried it with my ps4 pad today and couldnt figure it out. i think the best way is to select the group and flick around the soldiers with the right stick. or just set the medic as a individual group i guess.
