No cover system?
Is there no cover system in the game? How do I tell when my infantry are in cover?

From what I can tell, thats what you get when you just make a few tweaks and minor model improvements to the 15 year old engine.

There never was cover system in SS games - and SS4 more strategy game then tactic. I think SS and SS2 was tactic more.

@CyberGuru: there is no connection between old - new engine, it's a completely different game

here is cover system in game.

So there isn't one? I know it's not the same as CoH or MoW but for a game that plays at a slower pace you'd think strategy and tactics would play a big role and therefore it would have a proper cover system.

theres no cover sistem what so ever other than to put infantry in trench or house (wich get destroyed within seconds). Infantry in MP is pretty useless.

Sadly this game still needs to evolve to the 'next level' of what is expected of a RTS in 2017/2018. Sudden strike 1 & 2 defined my childhood. COH 1 & 2 and Men of War have raised the bar. Sadly this iteration of SS has failed to meet that challenge. COH 2 came out in 2012. Its abysmal that in 2017/2018 that a WW2 RTS can fall this short both in graphics and gameplay. I am deeply disappointed.

lol in previous SS games was no cover system too other than trees, trenches, buildings, strengthening - and all of this is presented in SS4 too. what new cover you expected to see? - stealth suits?

After 15years it could have a more sophisticated fight. Simply, units behind barrier may have some cover bonus. If you park tank in building 1) Is not too visible to the enemy 2) It is harder to hit. If you have soldiers in forest, bushes, in city behind barricades, they can also got similar bonuses.

Look at Close combat games and no one says that it must be so realistic.

COH presented dynamic cover and other developers wont incorporate that decade later becouse its not their thing... thats just plain dumb.

Its like after 1st iphone rest of the developers wont adopt their technical improvement and stick to the oldfashion dialkey phones or that car producers wont adopt ABS becouse they did not invent it first.

this is a competitive world out there and devs shud follow good paths others have set if they want to succeed.

Because their technology not so good to make it or they don't have too much budget or simple this is simply not suit for the game/engine , I think .

Do Steel Division have cover system ? I don't have Steel Division so I really don't know what the hell it look like . But I do played Wargame before and I remember the series don't have cover system and the ambush work like Close Combat .

Eugen Systems and Paradox Interactive have much more fans , also they did better than Kalypso in business . Steel Division are base on the succe they have done before .
Yeah I agree the price of SS4 is kinda expensive , but now it plus SS1 to SS3 .

Anyway Kalypso may kill itself this year by spamming fail product .
