Elemental Combinations
Anyone have a reference for how various elements combine? For example, someone is in fire. What happens if I use an Air attack on them? Anything? What about Earth, etc.? I want to make sure I understand how they all work together.

if some one is on fire.. water will make him either hot/wet/neutral
you can also use an freezy ability on an burning friend..it will make them neutral. so the fire is gone then.

if some one is wet you can stun them with air.

you have also spell shilds against all kind of element if needet.
spell "avatar of air/fire..." is not that good as if you think unless you are new. then it can be usefull.
you can heal poison with ranger abilitys or cast a heal or use counter poisen potion. BUT if you stand in poisen it will aply again.
if an enemy is poisend they can be burn and the next fire hit double damages them IF you use a wand.

you can poisen and fire someone it is very strong.. you can make a poisen surface and then fire on top of it.. that makes a cloud/smoke.. wich takes the sight of the enemy away. in the beta you could electyfy the cloud.. now you cant its a bit to stong if you ask me. BUT you can make electrys clouds with an marksmen/ranger. those arrows a bit rare.

there are to many variations to count them all. but those are the basics.
freeze will often fail.. but if you let it rain before the change is high that they will freeze. same goes with stun(electriy/air).

and there is smoke. i mean its obvios what it does.

you can also lay granates on the ground and blow them up. or teleport an enemy into them.. or you put granates into a weak barel and teleport/telekines or put the barel beetwen enemys and blow that up. or if you have enough strenght throw it.
So, if I see an area of electricity (static?) on the ground, what element is the source of that? Air? And how do I counter it and remove it? Water?

The only combos are:
- oil + fire = flames
- poison gas + fire = explosion
- wet = higher chance to freeze/stun
- water & fire = opposition effects (hot/cold)
- water on floor + fire = steam
- water steam/cloud + electric = electric cloud
- water floor + electric = electric floor
- water floor + ice = ice

For your electric issue, either remove the water under it, or wait for it to naturally dissipates. If it is a trap mechanic, deal with the trap.

Electric doesn't magically hover on the ground. Either remove the water under it, or wait for it to naturally dissipates. If it is a trap mechanic, deal with the trap.

So then what you are saying is that electricity on the ground is a result of water, correct? What about steam clouds? Isn't there a combination of some sort that causes those?
Sorry, eddited xD
That's a nice list; thank you. I'm going to keep a copy of it until it becomes second-nature to my addled brain.

you can override it with fire or poisen/earth and you can summon a monster on the air surface so the monster gets stuned and the surface changes into normal water..

if its permanent then you need a barel /chest. or you need search for the source to disarm it.
If you want to clear hazards buy and use the Aerotheurge skill Tornado, it removes all surface hazards it touches even the instant death lava, so long as there isn't a "source" actively replenishing it.

Though in many cases you'll want to be taking advantage of surface threats.
My favourite combo is using Rain and Blitz bolt or Rain and a Staff of Magus shot using a Lightning Staff to cause an AOE stun.

Can also do that with natural water puddles as well, electrify them first then use rain to extend the electrified water to hit other enemies.
If an organic enemy is right near an electrified surface as well you can hit/shoot him to make him bleed, if you get lucky the blood can land in range and become electrified as well stunning him.

Taking advantage of surface hazards is incredibly advantageous in these games, if not broken at times.
