Yes. You missed the fact that you can send just 1 person forward to start the fight instead of all your guys clumped up.
And, now that you see that his big hit is fire damage, you can buff up fire resistance on that one guy and he will only lose maybe a quarter or a third of his health.
Depending on his position, I find this fight is a lot easier than the Duke skeleton.
As for when you are supposed to fight him: after you clear the entirety of the Cyseal region.
Braccus is supposed to the capstone of that region.
So you should do the area in Cyseal you skipped first, before doing Braccus.
That might work too, but it's still not as good as simply not allowing him to cast his meteor spell at all.
you wanna aggro the blob first with a fast character and bring it out of the room and then ambush it in the doorway and bottleneck everything else. I remember from my last playthrough BR didn't even join the combat this way (even though he's supposed to)
Keep your party outside of the crypt near Thelyron, send one member in as Braccus' opening attack will kill whatever it targets, rezz them after . Target the spawns of the minions with appropriate elemenal area spells to stop them healing and the fight becomes fairly manageble.
