They've changed the exchange rate of talent points, so now the demon offers 1 attribute point for 3 ability points and just 1 ability point for 1 talent point, making it useless to exchange talent points for attribute points. What that means is that talents that add 2 ability points and such are viable in EE.
The codex that gives +1 INT at the price of -1 perception still exists, although I'm not sure if its drop rate has been decreased/changed in any way (have only found 1 so far).
As you probably know, there's one quest later in the game that gives 1 additional attribute point for one of your characters (book).
Now that there are tons of rare/epic/divine etc items around and merchants usually offer a wide variety of them (not to mention you no longer have to save money for books), you can easily have a +6 or +7 bonus to an attribute from your gear around mid game, so that's really not an issue.
And since INT has a soft cap on cds now (15) and abilities are tiered, it's somewhat less demanding in terms of attrubte/ability points depending on your class & build.
And on a somewhat related note, there's equipment that gives additional AP per turn (not + speed stat, just raw AP).
Nice tips, how much stats give each gear piece?
You're probably used to +1, but luckily +2 gear isn't all that rare anymore. And what's more, there's gear that has +3 to one attribute, too. Haven't noticed any more than that, but the good news is, that kind of boost can be found not only on rings or amulets, but on any gear piece. And naturally, it can have, say +3 perception but also up to two +1 boosts to different stats or some abilities (lockpicking, crafting, tenebrium and so on) and extra resistance(s) to boot.
Right now I have a mage with 22 int due to codex (the +1 INT book) and +7 from gear. It's nuts. That said, the soft cap on INT is 15, so you hardly need that much.
Oh, and it's worth noting that some armor has only lvl requirements now. So it's possible to be a warrior or mage and wear some leather armor, for example. Unlockable abilities can now be found on any piece of gear (even weapons; no, not only staves), not just rings and armor often has 'immune to [status effect]'.
It's like Christmas.
"The books are not suppose to respawn; that was a bug in D:OS."
Yeah, it was very, very broken...way too OP.
It was broken.
