Pickpocketing....
Is freaking awesome! I had never used it at all in this game. I put one point on Bairdotr and have +3 from gear right now. I was flat broke after buying some gear (since that seems to be the only way to get decent gear now for some reason) and deseratley needed gold. It was either kill a bunch of npcs (no way i was doing that) or try to pick some pockets. I now have almost 9000 gold, several legendaries, and I have found 2 tormented souls on regular ol npcs in Cyseal. I have 4 of them now which is nice. I did notice you can't hit people up again. Is that permanent or timed base? I'm guessing its permanent but still, not bad for one point. Oh I will mention that Bairdotr also has Walk in Shadows which makes it a lot easier. So far Arhu is the only one I can't hit... Helped me out a lot for sure.

Also works in RL. ;)

Yup. You can also pickpocket merchants.

So if you want a spellbook that cost a sh**t ton of money, you can pickpocket it :).

Oh, has the value limit on pickpocketable items increased? In the vanilla version, you were limited to 1000 gold as the most you could take from someone.

I think it depends on how high your skill level is and how high the intented target's intelligence and perception are. I know I could pocket like 768 gold (roughly) with 3 and around 860 (again roughly) with pp at level 4.

I just wish there was a time limit or something so you could hit people again. Make it like 10 hours or so in game time and then you could strike again. I know the devs don't want us to go all crazy with it (especially with the way that good loot is only available from vendors it seems) but limiting it to once only is kinda silly.

You can pickpocket 2.8k gold @ level 9 in the skill.

It's worth saving your single chance per character until later as early game the merchants don't have that much gold or good items.

You shouldn't be having money problems by that point.

Another thing. If your pickpocket is gear, every single character can pickpocket that target once. So potentially you could rob them blind if the gear gets your pickpocket high enough.

I love pickpocket in this game hehe. My Scarlett is a master thief with high lockpick and pickpocket, but only one 1 sneaking, because I just use waik in shadows to turn invisible and walk around all the shops and proceed to fill my inventory with all their goods hehe :D

Then of course sell those goods right back to them :)
I stole all the painter guys paintings in the market square, and then sold most of them right back to him seconds later.

Good point. Thanks, I didn't think about that. Now I need to find pickpocketing gear that isn't shoulders and ring.

I'm finding out that some of the people it just isn't possible to pickpocket from. Two I've encountered are Esmeralda and Major Cecil. I'm not being spotted or anything and it doesn't even pull up the menu saying what they have. They just immedietely turn around and call the guards.

Well whatever you do don't try pickpocketing the woman in the upstairs room of the shop with that guy with the chicken that's trying to escape. I used walk in shadows to turn invisible then put sneak on and tried to pickpocket her. But if you do it will always cause the game to crash. I guess she gets so angry with you for trying to steal from her, that she kicks you out of the game lol :)

Pickpocketing also gives you a way to farm xp.

Intentionally fail...
The person calls guards...
Kill guards...
Flee the battle...

Return.. and repeat.

It's of course not necessary to do this but if you really want to farm some xp you can.

Surly that doesn't work does it ? Wouldn't all the guards and also the person you tired to pickpocket all just be hostile to you after that ?
