How to talk to moving animals ?
Ok. I know how to talk to animals the problem i have are those critters that won't stay still long enough for you to click on them. Is there any way to pause their movement long enough to actually talk to them ?

Sometimes I just all zoom... then it´s easier.
If you stay far enough from an animal it will stop moving and you can click on it to talk. If you use a controller click the left thumbstick and you will be able to target the animal that way.

They seem to run around less if you are far away. Just wait untill they are at some distance and calm down a bit and than click on them. The character will than run around trying to chase them, and initiate dialog when close enough automatically...

Seems like "if pet pal=1, initiate scamper=0" should be patched in. Maybe animals can sense those that can speak to them.

That is actually a great idea. Devs! Make it so!

Cast fireball. Although your conversation might be a little one-sided.

Controller is easier to talk with them because it is directional, with m/k you have to click on it, where controller you simple face that way.

I should have said I'm using KB/M; so the controller suggestion sound great but not sure how I can use them without a controller. Btw victor vran spoiled me - now I want to move with wasd instead of constant mouse clicking :)

I didn't notice that standing far away improve the situation so i can try that. The fireball option sounds amusing but I would think that would make the situation a bit toasty so I think I'll skip that one.

I wish we could take 3 companions; I wanted to try the two new ones but find that my part also needs that cleric in the library.
-
back to the original topic - will the animals be upset if I pour oil on them ? I guess I can try that also.

Water/oil none of these affect teh replies of any npcs. they only repond to damage. That said the path finding does seem to skirt around such things, so not suer how much of an improvement it will make but maybe worth a try, as it is fustrating trying to click on these pesky little critters. More so if trying to kill them for the extra xp.

*Just tried oil nade, it does work making them oiled, and way slower... so carrying a couple of these to talk will work but surely there is better ways to talk with npcs in game rather then this... missing mods. Maybe one day.

Try putting food they like on the ground to lure them in. Carot for rabbits, cheese for rats, etc.

Too much effort to talk to a rat who will have nothing to say. What the game really needs is a 'pause' which freezes all movement :)
