The Guardian
i fought and beat the guardian head on. i didnt have the special wand since i havent encounter tenebrium yet i think i may have jumped ahead. anyways i have been playing without looking anything up. IT TOOK ME ALMOST AN HOUR to beat him, Not that he was kicking my ass since im playing classic but his armor was just tough to penetrate. Then i realized i couldve tricked him into the lava pit but it wouldnt have been as satisfying and getting the Unique 3 head pitch fork two handed weapon and Epic arabalest would not have been as cool. Anyone dumb enough like me to tackled him head on? or ddi you guys use the lava pit/ special wand?

One of the wandering groups of Immaculates in that place has the wand on him, no tenebrium required. If you give it to the ranger companion, you won't even get rot as she starts with 1 point in tenebrium from the start.
I'd reached The Guardian but couldn't find the wand anywhere in my inventory even though I had killed the immaculate that drops it a few minutes prior to encountering the boss.

I killed it by luring it into the lava trap on the middle of the stairs. The lava activates as soon as someone steps off one of the pressure plates, so I parked all of my characters past the trap and kept one (invisible) character on top of the pressure plate until I'd lured the guardian on top of the pit after which I stepped off the traps, resulting in the boss instantly dying to lava damage.

Later on I realised that the wand had been with me the entire time, it was just automatically put into the bloodstone box that some guy in Silverglen gives you so you safely can carry Tenebrium materials. :v
If you can't find the wand and you've started the The Troll's Bounty mission, you might want to check the container he gave you.
Inventory management is a big problem with this game. A lot of plot-important items can be lost just being jumbled with all the other random crap we pick up.
I just punched him to dead. Took maybe half an hour, but I only ever explored the lava traps after i killed him...
His lowest resist is fire. If everyone is hitting him with fire weapons and spells it goes a bit faster.

I once make a half circle of 14 barrels of poison and oil. Then I lured him into the middle and set it off. The explosion took out about 80% of his life on Tactical difficulty.
Is there some kind of reason why only some monsters show their resistances etc etc when "examining" them? Sadly bosses like this one makes me dislike the game a little bit. If I didnt get bored after 15 minutes of fighting him I would of never looked up how to beat him. I woulda mangled him for another 45 minutes. If I were able to check his resistance yadayada it would be better.

Yes there is a reason:
How much info is shown depends on the level in Loremaster of the character doing the inspection.
It has nothing to do with a monster being a 'boss'.
