Utility of rogue w/o pickpocket and lockpicking?
I was thinking of trying a knight, a rogue and 2 wizards. The description of pickpocketing as only being able to be done once per NPC seems really restrictive and since I heard you can bash or burn chests/doors I don't see why you would want to invest in lockpicking. Am I missing anything if I don't take those abilities? Does it make more sense to go with a more fighter type build if not taking those abilities? Also are bashing and fire spells really an effective replacement for lockpicking?

Up to you, and I may be remembering this wrong or getting it mixed up with another game. But if you destroy a chest... isn' t there a chance that you will destroy the contents?

some chests have very high mounts of health so i would advise against smashing them.

and a rogue does nice dmg because of backstab. and u also lockpick doors an beating down a door with 54k HP and high amour is frustrating

if you have a wizard, make sure to learn Magical unlock skill. other than that, you can find many good gear with lockpicking/pickpocket skill attached on them. And while pickpocket is relatively useless (I think it change a quest or two, but you can still do everything without) lockpicking is not useless. if you have magical unlock spell however, these two skill become completely useless.
I put one point in both and never touch them again. I keep some handy gear in my inventory for that very purpose. You have 5 hotbars, use them =)

oh and about smashing them. unless you have an Unbreakable wepon, do NOT do that. (yes it breaks ranged weapon as well. I confirmed that) but if you have a mage, one fireball or two would be more than enough. some chest are immune to magical damage but don't worry: teleportation should still work (in most cases)

It's hard to find enough ability points to put into everything a Rogue wants, so yes, them skimping out on Lockpicking and Pickpocketing is very reasonable. Most locked things not in towns have a key somewhere anyway, and Pickpocketing is basically worthless after the first town.

Which skill is magic unlock spell in? I saw an unlock magic spell listed on the wikia site under witchcraft but when I check the EE skills it doesn't show it there. Also the wikia says it is a scroll only so how do you learn it and where can you find it?
also lockpicking doors can be verry usefull, some doors can even be indestructible

i believe it is indeed a scroll only. the name suggests it can just magically unlock doors but (as i experienced in the non-enhanced version) the scroll can only open up a magically sealed door.
in other words it has no effect on all other doors. i think lockpicking can be verry usefull since this will help you a lot opening doors and high health chests. some doors are even indestructible but can actually be lockpicked if ur character is skilled enough. just dont put more then 2/3 skillpoints in it cuz u will find items that boost lockpicking.
also if u like robbing ppl then obviously smashing their door isnt verry subtle.
