Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition

Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition

Voice acting is awful. :O
Please, everybody who thinks it is good and who played the original, please compare.
The new voices for the main characters are really bad compared to the same lines they had in the original (original was not fully voiced)
Same goes for NPCs, their voices had so much character in the original, now they are boring and uninspired, sometimes they sound like they had problems to read their lines.
And the cheese vendor is the WORST. Why didn't they use the original voice actors??

I like some of the actors, but some are pretty lame like the new cheese vendor. I also get the feeling that most of the voices were recorded by Larian members or other belgium/dutch people because you can hear it in their voices.

But the other changes to this game are very good. I like to play it and it is fun. Never played the vanilla to the end. Only till hunters edge. But this time I will play it through.
I think they're pretty good

Awful? Drama queen much?
i like them all honestly, very well done for the most part. 100% disagree
I enjoy them. How can you not enjoy every time Eglandaer screams, "VICTORIAAAAAAAAAA"
SHE BIT ME IN THE FACE!!
This discussion is over a month old.^^ I got used to the new voices, the different cheese vendor is still a pity though.
Some voice acting is about the same as the old, and others are much, much worse- there wasn't a single voiced line (that had a voice in the original) that I thought "wow, that was done better in EE!"

I find it equal parts sad and hilarious the number of people who are upset with people "not liking something" and just resorting to "turn off volume" or "just go away"... That is how game companies go under, 100%. They do something that kills their gaming base (either by not listening to their base that are talking to them, or by ignoring them) and the base leaves; the hardcore fans screaming "go, go! we don't need you!" as they leave. Sad because fans are just trying to defend their game they love and hilarious because their actions in most cases hurt the company...

I understand by saying this the first response will be to turn around and start screaming "Who are you?! You think that you can speak for the ENTIRE base!" and if the game studio doesn't come in and say "hey. we WANT and NEED to hear this feedback!" then those voicing concerns WILL just walk away- in which case the base will most likely stay silent and eventually leave.

I was currently in the process of writing up a huge review on the EE, my personal belief being that the game took one step forward and two steps back and three to the side from the original; voice acting was one of the things on the list. Now, if environment is set up in a way where if you start bringing up things you don't like the response will be "shut up or leave" then Larian will create a situation where they are shooting blind; a dangerous situation for any game studio and a situation that has lead many to go under.
they are okey imo. But the voice repetition in cyseal is damn annoying :I

I think they even turned it down a bit

IMO I do prefer the old cast and i wonder why they have redone everything

This game took a different aproach than what you would have prefered, deal with it or don't play. The desing isn't inherently bad just because you don't like it

the inverse is true as well - it's not inherently good because some people do like it, either.
I quite enjoy the new voices, it makes it much more immersive, especially some of the ones spoken in combat.
Well with a fantasy script so tripe, it's impossible to get any convincing and fun voice acting to begin with, I say. There is only so many times you can hear of orcs and undeads without yawning about it. But that is a problem all fantasy games suffer from. I found Skyrim's voice acting and script also pretty bad overall.

It's a woefully shame when they be talkin' ye olde English, sir! 'Specially when ey use dem Brits folk for eet, I sayy!

i laughed because it's true.
does the person look refined? make them British
do they seem intelligent, perhaps they are a wizard? make them British
are they evil? DEFINITELY MAKE THEM BRITISH*

* or at least Slavic

also i agree about Skyrim. i remember looking it up, and the game has over 60 paid voice actors! -- but they use about the same 5 guys [voice actors] for 90% of the NPCs in the game, and god is it weird and annoying.

The "every year I said" imp at the end of time and the skeleton boss who plays the bag pipes in cyseal are two changes that stood out for the worse. Why would you change them? Especially when they were already voiced? It's like the new voice actors didn't know what emotion means.
