With enough distance between your team members, you can send one of them forward to take the initial hit and then resurrect. You can also stack fire resistance high enough so that you can actually tank the hit.
What i usually do. Wait until he walks to the back wall away from the door you come in at. Then hit him with an AOE spell, which will hit him but will keep you out of combat with him. I usually use an archer with Splintered arrow for max range. This will cause him to summon his 3 henchmen but he is too far to enter combat. back your archer (or a mage will work) back to the door.
At this point you aren't in combat with anything, but him and his 3 henchmen are in the room now. Stay safe out of the room and you can lure the enemies to the door easier so you don't have to fight them all at once. This should be a tactic you use most of the game, initializing combat from a distance with a large AOE attack, which will let you gain even more distance from the enemy.
Agreed.
I split my team and keep three of them in the room outside Braccus' lair. I send in the character with the most hit points fully buffed with every potion and spell in my group's inventory. His job is to lure Braccus and get him to attack. He then scampers out of the room back to where the rest of my party is waiting - and gets a heal if necessary. One of the party throws a smoke grenade (or arrow) through the doorway to prevent Braccus or one of his helpers from casting (because they can't see us) so they're forced to come through the door one at a time.
The fight, while still very tough, thus becomes manageable.
I admit that the first time I encountered Braccus my whole team entered his lair and we got wiped. Memo to self: sometimes scouting ahead is advisable. ;-)
Prepare by having enough resurrection scrolls and falling back so you can focus on the adds. Maybe also use smoke bombs / arrows to prevent sight. It was a long fight but after that the difficulty got more moderate and less frustrating :)
There are much more difficult fights ahead. Wait until you meet king Boreas... And Later you'll meet invulnerable ennemies.
Don't expect to beat Bracchus Rex at level 4, you must be prepared and high enough level.
It is not important if he kills one character right away, just resurrect it. He uses the meteor shower only once so all you have to do is have one of your characters survive the initial attack.
