How do I get to the mysterious stranger near old church?

I can't find underground passage or hatch anywhere.

And my perception is 9.

In the left (west, if the altar is south) room, in the lower left corner is the hatch that leads outside.

Think you need perception 10-11. I used the Pyrokinetic skill "Burn My Eyes" to get the necessary perception boost :)

Perception 7 or 8 tops to see it. Think it is 8 ...there is a chest out there too when you get outside from the hatch. if your perception is high enough you will see the burial mound for the chest as you enter the church.

No way. That's what you needed in the original version. In the EE I had an 8 and the light stepper talent for 10 effective and could not spot it. Drank a medium perception potion for another +2 and found it.

I think that guy has something to do with the kickstarter campaign that got the game going.

He's essentially an inside joke at this point. During the kickstarter for the non-EE version, one of the stretch goals would have seen the 'mysterious stranger' woven into the storyline in a significant role. It wasn't reached, so the 'mysterious stranger' just makes a few cameo appearances and doesn't do anything of consequence.
