Because this game is hard very hard sometimes it lets you wihotu even a hint. So for example you know the piramids that lets you teleport. I did not discovered the second one so I used levitation to pass obstacles meaning I lifted a character and moved him to the other side of the obstacle and let him hard on the ground and then used that char to levitate the other character and so forth. I almost finished the game like that if not for a hidden place that could not be bypassed without the piramids.
So why do I needed cheats well its because I needed a lot of mana a lot and life also a lot of life.

Because after you've beaten a singleplayer game why else would you go back if not to mess around?
I usually finish RPGs once or twice the "fair" way and then return to mod the hell out of the game or use trainers and other programs to just mess around, speedrun, try all kinds of different stuff or break the game. Funny glitches can happen etc.
In a singleplayer game there is no such a thing as "cheating". There's only either boredom or having fun.

Games are meant to be entertaining. How anyone enjoys a game is up for them. If someone enjoys a game only when hacking then let him hack! He's not hurting anyone.
It's a different story in mp where you ruin the fun for others but in a singleplayer game...Go berserk!

Oh i should add that you can use trainers as much as you want to because nothing is going to happen to you even if some people think you're "cheating" or "hacking".
You can literally hack in this game and no harm will come to you.
It's not a competitive mp game with VAT protection. You can do whatever you want with the game files, hack, use trainers, mod...Whatever.

Do what you want to.
