Connection Failed
I am unable to play as when I try to start a game it goes through the motions of setting up then always returns to main menu with a connection failed box, doesn't matter if I try to start single or multi-player. Have verified game files and have no connection problems.
DoS original still works fine.
Am I missing something blindingly obvious or is this a bug ?

This might be because of a very aggressive firewall or antivirus. Try disabling or making an exception for it.

I'll second the above because I've noticed my firewall flagging the game as 'suspicious', probably because it has just released. It's a common problem with games nowadays.

Thanks for the suggestions. My firewall already had it as allowed but tried disabling it anyway.
Unfortunately even after disabling both firewall and anti-virus I'm still getting a connection failed appearing almost immediately.
Don't you just love PC's.
If disabling the firewall/antivirus doesn't work you're out of luck for now. I will create a workaround but it could take a few days, thanks for your patience :-)

I also have the same connection failed issue 100% of the time I try and start a game. I setup exceptions/exclusions for both the firewall and antivirus for the enhanced edition with no luck.

Thanks for looking into it Dave.
In the mean time I've still got Hearts of Stone to finish, so that should keep me going for a while yet :D

But for those of you who have the connectivity problems... restart Steam after a new patch has been applied. It should help. It helped with my "connection failed" problem anyway.

so before buying i want to know - this game requires 24/7 internet connection? and without it you want be able to play? it`s like diablo 3 all over again?

Nope, as I got round the problem by disconnecting from net before starting and it worked.
So, I can play when not connected to net.

So, how is the workaround coming? I have tried disconnecting my PC but the problem persists. Does it really take more than a week to solve this problem? I have not been able to play yet, not even create my characters.
Sorry for the wait, I created a fix for the problem, still needs to go through QA though.

Agreed. I was just about to buy a copy of this game for my girlfriend so we can play together, but if it's having connection issues like this I guess I will have to wait on that. Bummer.

Still the same problem... Haven't been able to play the game for one single minute... I appreciate people trying to solve the problem, but it seems nothing is happening at all :-(
