- crafting from the Recipes page automatically searches the complete inventory including backpacks for ingredients
- backpacks can be opened with a double-click in the Experiment page and closed via the Close button at the top (this way, you could even search multiple backpacks for ingredients)
In particular, the game desperately needs a shared inventory - at least, for all party within 15 metres or similar distance.
When I open bartering, I want to be able to sell all the items for all my party in a single trade, using one guy; when I open crafting, I want one crafter to be able to access all of the supplies that anyone in my party is holding.
Because usually one party member is best for bartering, another is best for crafting, etc, and right now there is so much moving items back and forth before and after barter/craft in order to get best prices/most efficient crafting. It would be so much nicer if these activities could operate on the entire party's inventory at all times to avoid all that tedious moving items back and forth.
The game already mentions "magic pockets" for things like keys, so I really hope that DOS 2 extends this to bartering, craft and other such activities.
. . . well did you find the answer? Can you open the backpacks during bartering?
I don't know. I haven't played the game in that long.
I think you're honor-bound to find us an answer at this point. Better get to downloadin.
Unfortunately you also can't switch to another character while the barter interface is open. You *can* switch when just the talk window is open, so as a very-partial workaround you can close barter, switch to another character, open their inventory, change to the inventory that has the backpack, and check its contents. Then switch back to the character who's talking to the NPC, and click on the Barter icon again.
Of course because this requires closing bartering first, you'll lose any in-progress trade, and that was probably the key point of the question. So it's really not much of a workaround at all. But at least it means you don't have to quit out of the NPC chat as well, so at least you save hearing two voice clips ;)
