Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition

inventory management / selling and buying
Hi everyone

I am a big fan of Divinity: Original Sin, especially the enhanced edition is just superb. It's hard to find anything bad in a game I like as much as this one but nevertheless there are a few minor points that could either be improved or that I am just too clumsy to handle better (hence the post).

1.) I am spending far too much time comparing items and wondering what to keep and what to sell. I'd really appreciate a "junk"-tab where you can send unwanted items to and a function that allows you to "sell all junk" at vendors.

2.) I love the automated interconnection of the single characters. For instance when you try to identify an item and lack the necessary skill, the char that has the skill automatically jumps in and does the identification. Same thing goes for repairing or digging up stuff. Where it doesn't work is at vendors: only if the the guy with high bartering speaks directly to the vendor do you get a price bonus. So what I have to do is go through all individual inventories, tranfer stuff to sell to the char with high bartering, etc.

Any suggestions on how to handle inventory, selling/buying better are welcome.

-Actually most (if not all) the junk is not junk and can be used to craft and upgrade stuff.

Dang.... guess I must experiment some more then ;) Well the problem is that I still need to sell a lot of stuff since I need gold...

Crafting is the key. You can easily craft a lot of stuff that sells for very high prices. Then there is stealing (and I mean burglary, not pickpocketing)... Stealing paintings inside homes is a very rewarding choice :)

You can find a crafting chart, even one from original version, on google. Crafting is pretty overwhelming. Impossible to remember it all. Original chart is not exactly the same, but it is close enough.
Crafting does create a similar problem stated above, if your blacksmith and crafter aren't the same char, you are constantly moving stuff in your inventory. I made this mistake, should have blacksmith and crafter same char.

You even can craft two wooden sticks (cost close to nothing) into a magic staff (not bad price at all). It's like making money from the air.

if you're talking about unwanted armor + weaps, you could just throw that stuff in a backpack designated to sell.
I use my backpack for books I've read + keys, and I just horde all the misc stuff.

don't know how far along you are, but you will find loot as you go along which you can sell for gold.
just keep an eye open, look everywhere, and try to bump perception on 1 guy.

Has anybody figured out a use for plate scraps. I buy all ore and metal scraps, and make weapons and armor or boots, then sell. good profit. Haven't figured plate scraps yet.

You can use them to upgrade armors

I tried that I think, you are talking plate scraps, not metal scraps, right.

collect everything with one character (your barter character) and dont even look at the stats until that characters inventory is full, then do all your selling at once, preferrably with a pair of barter+1 boots on (remember that even if an item is in your barter characters inventory any character can equip it from the equipment menu). send all scrolls, potions, arrows, crafting items, and bombs to a single character respectively so you know where to send them immediately (dont bother sending them soon as you get them unless your hurting for that particular consumable, but you should be getting more consumables than you can make use of). keep bags in each characters inventory for the 2 +1 crafting/blacksmithing gear, the one +1 barter gear, the 3 +1 loremaster gear, and a bag for all keys/quest items respectively. and put your oil/poison/water barrels in a characters inventory thats nhot your "collector" unless that happens to be a very high strength character. these are the things i do to make inventory managment painless. it takes about 5 minutes to do every 3 hours

if you right click/press square, on an item and you see an option that says "combine with" that means its a crafting material and should be saved. your better off saving every item you find until you know every recipe because even things like teeth, intestines, empty bottles are all very useful when crafting. things like broken vases, diamonds, and gold cups can be either sold or dropped since they dont say "combine with" they dont have any crafting purposes. i also drop/dont pick up, anything that has to do with crafting food because ♥♥♥♥ food in this game

plate scraps upgrade metal armors only. they are either better than metal scraps for upgrading or they add onto the metal scrap upgrade value, not sure which, but reguardless thats the only use i found for them

The best way is to designate one character as your seller. Make them the one with barter if you want to use that skill.

Now if someone else has something to sell you can right-click it and choose "send to..." the seller.

And when picking up stuff, only pick it up with your seller if you know you won't be using it.

You can also do the right-click "send to..." right inside containers to distribute stuff to whatever character you want it on.

I will have to try that again, maybe I was trying to craft with them, like metal scraps. Now I don't know if I tried to upgrade using plate scraps, like you can with scale scraps. Another quest, Another quest, onward.

Found (or stolen) weapons and armors sell for a little more if they are enhanced at an anvil or whetstone...I'm sure everyone already knows this, but I thought I would mention it just in case...
