Looking for good tactical rpg
I love the way this game plays, easily my favorite tactical rpg ever. But I am looking for something in more modern day times with guns and such. Where I can send my sniper up to high ground to lay down some cover fire for my shotgunner. Something along those lines. Any suggestions?

1) wasteland 2. more of a wild west feel but with a post nuculear fallout setting.
2) XCOM, it has a future sci-fi feel and is not so much RPG as it is a galactic war simulator
3) final fantasy tactics, not exactly what your looking for but its the best tactical rpg ever made. best story, progression, all around better. although its in medieval style setting it is extremely gritty and doesnt fit in with any other FF games except maybe 8 due to how dark the game is

aside from the "modern" part - you should try out Blackguards(2) and probably Banner Saga

Love xcom! One of my favorites. I was really thinking about wasteland, I have heard a lot of mixed things so I don't really know. My main issue with a lot of games in this genre is they just try to draw out the battles. I want something fairly realistic. If you step out in front of my sniper and he shoots you, thats it. That was my only really problem with xcom. I would have my sniper on lookout, he would shoot something that wanders in to his view, and it did maybe 1/4 of the enemies health

unfortunately your not going to find a realistic turn based strategy game anywhere on the planet lol. wasteland 2 is good but not better than divinity. FFT is the best of the best of the genre tho. if you like the turn based genre that game will not dissapoint. XCOM is the closest you will get to what your looking for though. if FFT doesnt do it for you then XCOM 2 comes out this year

turn based strategy is kinda like playing a board game more than realistic. find out what "board game" has the best style for you. FFT has like 15 different classes and the terrain is a huge deal in the game as well as a wide variety of different style enemies that will keep you on your toes the entire playthrough. if you havent played it, i dont think theres anyone who would argue against it being a must play for any turn based rpg enthusiast

I am currently waiting on the new fire emblem, could never really get into anything final fantasy related. I have been searching for a realistic or semi realistic tactics game. I love lethal tactics and frozen synapse but I would love something with some continuity. I heard satellite reign was decent but not to sure

fire emblem is the spritual successor to FFT. so if you liked that then you would like FFT without a doubt. they are the exact same game. you can get it for free with a PS emulator in about 5 minutes. that would give you a good 60-80 hours of gameplay for just one playthrough

I may have to check it out. But right now im looking for something with guns and a more modern theme. The main ones I am looking at are satellite reign and wasteland 2.

I enjoyed Valkyria chronicles. It's more world war age, but with a fantasy basis... kind of hard to explain. It's turn based with soldiers and guns.

Xcom 2 is out soon as others have said before. It's definitely a very slim picking genre.

Shadowrun. The shadowrun games are really good, combining tactical combat and story. There are also several games in that series now, including the first one released, Dragonfall, and Hong Kong.

If you have a psp/vita, Tactics Ogre is also really good. But in the fantasy setting similiar to FFT.

For your consideration: Fallout Tactics.

Most fans of the original Fallout games would like to pretend it does not exist. As buggy as ♥♥♥♥ that game was, it still gave me hours of fun.

Yes, you can totally send your sniper to some higher ground to support your shotgunner or machete welder down below. Turn based and real time, depending on your preference. If you're familiar with the SPECIAL system, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to get into. Though anything non-combat related is pretty much useless.

I have no idea of it runs at all on modern systems though, might just get Wasteland 2 instead of it looks too dated for you. Or Hard West (it looks good).
