As far as replayability goes, I don't know. I was playing it a lot back before EE came out both as a multiplayer and solo. Now that I know how the game ends, I'm not entirely sure how driven I am to play. On perk is playing a new character. There are so many various ways to make a character, it holds that replayability like old Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games go.
There is also lone wolf options where you can play with a full team or just the two characters you make.
Various difficulty levels also add a bit of a challenge to the game if you want to explore those options.
Personally, I'd get it over Pillars. I have Pillar's on a wishlist, but my fiance already had started playing Pillars and lost interest in it. If you have the cash, get both. Either way, I really enjoy the unique flavor of this game.
