Creating just one character
I was wondering that could you just make one character in the game and play with it? Since I don't really like creating several characters just to play, even in Wasteland 2 I only created 1 character even though you can create an entire squad.
I like having companions and all, but they have their own true personality. I know that you can set the second character to AI, but that's not really what I'm looking for.
I prefer the character to have his/her own personality and not just AI that makes choices depending on the personality choice you make at the beginning of the game

There is no way to get around creating 2 main characters. You can give them the Lone Wolf talent to provide a boost but with the restriction of not being able to recruit companions or henchmen, but you can not just have a single character.

Well, that's a shame. Since right now I don't have any friends with who I could play the game, and I'd rather not play with random people online.
Will have to try to get into the game playing alone and creating two characters.
Thanks for answering!

You don't need two people to play, in fact I like playing more by myself so I can plan my moves in combat, the games party based, you just start with 2 main party members and you can recruit 2 more

Yeah, I know that but I just prefer to create just one character I play with. I like having companions in the game since they have their own stories and personalities
One reason I prefer creating just one character is that I get to be me. I can handle two character of course, I just don't like having two different personalities that I control. And the chosen AI personalities seem so shallow to me I guess.

I agree, would be much better if you had the choice to solo it or party depending on your own playstyle. Only way I would want teammates is if my brother played with me, otherwise I would rather control one character. Besides that, this game is so badass.

having only one character (assuming you're skipping companions too) limits your options in solving puzzles :/

The entire storyline of this game is written based on the actions/inactions/interactions of two characters. The requests to have the ability to play as only one character seem to be neglecting that point, and assuming that this is a Diablo-style game in which the word 'character' does not actually mean anything, because in those types of games, 'characters' are completely generic & interchangeable because have no personality or story attached to them whatsoever.

But that is not the case for DOS: EE game, so the one character formula would not fit.

The game already has a mechanism within it to overcome that problem before it even appears. I.e. On character creation screen, leave the "AI personality" at its default setting, which is "No AI." Then every time a decision comes up in the game that requires input from both characters, select the same answer for both of them. When you do that, you are making both characters be exactly like you want them to be.

Have not looked but I know there was a mod created called "true lone wolf" or something like that. It allowed you to create only 1 character at the start and it modified all the places in the story where you had to stand on 2 pressure plates to continue so that you can go through the whole game solo.

What I didn't like is that the mod also made that 1 character twice as strong as a normal lone wolf. By level 6 or so all challenge is gone as you are way overpowered.

Do like i did, kill your partner. He will be revived sometimes by the stones(i think) but won't bother you. I hate dragging an AI, so annoying.
Haven't reached Silver something yet (my game's in french) so can't tell for sure if it's a permanent solution.

How the heck are you able to do bossfights with a single character?
They're all build for at least 2 man parties.
The only thign I don't like is that for a 4 man party there will be a difference in the XP they have and it annoys me, so I'm double lone wolfing it.
if you find out how to solve certain fights, then they became super easy, if you mess it up a bit, you die miserably... positioning and target priority is extremely important in tactician mode.

There's a way to get stuck on just one character but it can be done after the character creation, just let the other character die and don't resurrect that character and go on with the game. It's on the resurrection scroll description afterall.
