Also, uh, it demolished my drive to play the game. The author just makes it sound like a horrible grindfest of tedium and boredom. I'll...find something else to do.
Melee (tanky): Man-at-arms, single-handed (if 1h+shield)/two-handed/dual wielding (if no shield); cap str, rest into con.
Melee (rogue): Scoundrel, dual wielding, dagger only; cap dex, rest into per.
Ranged: Expert marksman, bow/crossbow; cap dex, rest into per.
Mage (of any kind): Your favourite magic schools (usually two), staves/dual wands; cap int, rest into speed.
Defense, Personality, Craftsmanship and Nasty Deeds abilities are helpful, but not required to progress through the game. Use as you see fit. Talents should also be used as you see fit/as you learn more about the game. Don't stress over them.
You can put fewer points into more skills for versatility/hybrid classes, or specialize. Both works.
The named companions you will be able to recruit in the first town are: Madora (melee tanky), Jahan (air/water mage), Bairdotr (ranged bow), and Wolgraff (melee rogue). You can focus on upgrading the skills they come with and still be okay.
The classes the game make you choose from at character creation don't matter at all, you can still fully customise attributes, abilities, skills, and talents. You will only be stuck with their starting weapon and gear until you reach the town.
Game is okay. It does make you feel a little overwhelmed when you start, but really you can just do literally anything with your characters and get through it. Later on you'll be able to respec your allocated points as well.
Min/Maxing is what a "build guide" is although I never mention "min" or "max" per say once in my guide... it is doubtful that you even read my guide... However, if you want to throw points every which way and smile as you do it then you wouldn't be looking up a "build guide", unless of course you were mental.
"...horrible grindfest of tedium and boredom." is no where to be found in my guide as my guide currently does not include a walkthrough, so mentioning of "grinding" or "tedius/boring quests" are literally never mentioned... Also, the game does not have "respawning enemies" which means that there is literally ZERO grind in the game, so when I do possibly include a walkthrough the word "grind" will never appear in a guide of mine...
No one mentioned anything about a walkthrough. And just because I describe something at a 'feline shaped object which purs and is covered in hair', doesn't mean you can't call it a cat.
Just reading the guide you linked made me uninterested in the game. I often look up builds before playing, because half the time games don't have respec tools, and it's easy to get trapped in a bad build.
I never 'threw points every which way', whatever that means.
And...WTF are you going on about 'no respawn means no grind'?
2. That guide I linked was my guide
3. My guide didn't contain a walkthrough, which is why I mentioned that fact. "reading the guide made me uninterested in the game", had you actually said that in the first place everything would have made complete sense. Saying however " the guide makes [the game] sound like a horrible grindfest of tedium and boredom.." does not make sense unless you actually did not read the guide. Also not realizing the guide was in fact my guide also doesn't make sense unless you didn't actually read the guide...
4. Never said "you threw points every which way", that comment was cleary directed at Eri who said the guide would only be good if you were interested in "min/max'ing"- a clear attempt to clarify that anyone looking at the guide who didn't want that information to begin with are mental.
5. Not understanding how respawning is tied to "grind" or "grinding" means you don't actually understand what "grind" or "grinding" actually means. For edification: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grinding_(video_gaming) Summary: "Grinding is a term used in video gaming to describe the process of engaging in repetitive tasks... it envolves fighting respawning enemies (or repeatable battles) with the exact same tactics over and over again almost entirely for the purpose of gaining levels ..."
It's simply not tied to 'respawning enemies'. A game can be a tedious grind without requiring grinding.
I'm finished here. Thank you for your time.
