As far as an appropriate response, weird that the skill doesn't give the fire resist. Need a lot of fire resist gear (use fire essences on your gear) to use those skills well.
I have been ignoring them since I started playing and have yet to miss them.
I was hoping for some tactic or real good use. I was trying to use it with elemental affinity, since being on fire gives you -1 AP for fire spells... at least the self-immolation. But i guess it is better for a melee-class, battlemage maybe, so when you are surrounded you just lit them on fire all of them...
Everything else causes status effects that require extra setup to avoid, like using avatar spells to prevent burning or stuns or whatever else. It ends up costing more ap to set up than you save by standing in the element.
This guy posted something really nasty, but he or a moderator deleted the post so it's out of context. Consider yourself lucky you didn't see what he said.
Elemental affinity is also good with witchcraft since it activates off of blood and with poison if you have the zombie talent. It's also good with aerothurge if you have stun immunity so you stand in the middle of a electrified puddle and basically be immune to melee enemies. Or, if you have a lot fire resist, it's good with fire. You do have to build your character right to fully take advantage of it, but it's a great, cool talent if you do.
Best advice I can give you is make sure you take advice from people who know what they are talking about vs people who just like to listen to their own voice...
Starting from the point that if you enter in mine you will find only 1 game, and that is far away from Divinity and all the games I have ever played... :)
Luckily this is a game, and not a Structural-Design decision about the construction of a bridge that can ever collapse killing hundreds of people....
I just asked it informally to discuss and debate between some other peers who have ever played it and maybe reached some conclusions that can be shared :)
P.S. I would appreciate your opinion on this matter, thanks!
Now they limited to number of interesting things to do for the sake of "balance".
