Most traps in the game get desactivated automatically when you go past them or you find a switch to desactivate them. This prevent us from having to do them again !
If you didn't find the mound yet, this is certainly due to lack of perception, no need to spend your precious stat points on perception ! items + spells are more than enough to solve all quest puzzle in the game, if memory serve the highest perception check needed is 15 (for the last puzzle, finding secrets may need more though!) a good strategy is to keep percpetion items in your inventory (ex: craft creepy eye helm + amulet) + burn my eye spell (+2) + potions or pumpkin soup. Beardotr can easily reach +20/+23 with no points spent in perception.
An even more effective strategy is to have a side henchman dedicated for that: full perception points (+15) + light stepper talent (+2) + items ! No secret will remain hidden ! Wolgraff is perfect for that if you don't play him as main character.
