Looping NPC chatter intolerable

I'll have to quit this game if theres no way to turn it off, its driving me crazy!!! Might be ok if you know the game mechanics thouroughly and can zip through but if youre trying to figure out whats going on with the murder the same phrase voiced over and over and over.. etc is beyond distracting!
