Does anyone have any ideas? I've checked the games files and that came out okay.

Thanks

The exception code c0000005 is a memory access violation, but there are a variety of possible causes.

Try right clicking on the EoCApp.exe executable (in '..\SteamApps\common\Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition\Shipping'), select Properties, switch to the compatibility tab and try different compatibility modes (that doesn't effect DirectX functions, so the game should still start in a mode less than Win 7 SP1).

Try checking your system files:
- click Start, type cmd into the search box, right click Command Prompt and select run as administrator.
- type the following command and hit Enter
sfc /scannow
When that is done, type exit and hit Enter, then reboot your computer.
For more details, see: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/929833

You can try testing your RAM, though if only D:OS is crashing, it probably isn't a hardware issue. You can use the Windows Memory Diagnostic program or (much more thorough) Memtest86.
http://www.memtest.org

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game? Firewalls have caused conflicts (generally on loading screens, though) and overlays from graphics tweaking/monitoring programs or chat programs have also caused issues.

Check for updated graphics drivers and Windows updates in general.

Have you tried lowering the graphics settings and resolution, or switching to Windowed or Fake Fullscreen display mode, to see if that would make a difference?
One person reported stability problems in D:OS if they had Ambient Occlusion enabled, for example, but the game was fine if they disabled it and enabled it in their graphics drivers. You could try disabling all the post processing in the graphics options, etc.
Another was getting random reboots, which they tracked down to the graphics options in any game being different than was set as default in their video drivers (for anti-aliasing, ambient occlusion, etc).

Do you have Vsync enabled, or the frame rate cap set in the options? Try enabling, lowering or disabling those options.

Okay, took a bit of time but I have gone through all of your suggestions.

memtest came up clear
scannow brought up some missing/corrupt files so I did a repair install on my win7 x64 and applied security and othe windows updates.
lowered all graphics settings incrementally and checked whether any of my graphics options were different to the application settings.

I'm afraid I'm still getting the crash. Managed to get a bit more information this time, in case it helps:

Problem signature:

It still looks to be a memory access violation, even though I have 24mb ram installed in my system. I have no idea what the offset or additional information 1-4 means.

I should explain the crash happens when I try to open trading with a vendor (either the second or third vendor I try to barter with), the location of the trader doesn't matter - it happens everywhere on the maps I've uncovered. Also happens when I leave luculla for cyseal and vice versa. Again that doesn't happen everytime but it is frequent.

Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks

Try running the game without the steam client loading, you can run the EoCapp.exe from the install folder, so it wont load steam. Make sure you exit your steam client as well before this. Just see if there is a difference.

If specific things are sometimes causing a crash, it may be an issue in the save itself. This could be confirmed if you have any older saves that work fine when trading and transitioning between map areas.

If you don't have any older saves, you can try creating a new profile and then starting a new game on explorer difficulty, then getting to Cyseal and seeing if trading causes any problems. A bit of sneaking at level 2 or 3 will let you get to Luculla (especially if you pick up Jahan for the Rain spell, and maybe get the star stone in the clinic for the teleporter stones).

Please email supportdos@larian.com, with a brief description (or link to this discussion) and the report.zip file (or a Dropbox or Google drive link, etc) generated by the D:OS EE Analysis Tool[dl.dropboxusercontent.com] (for Windows).
Extract the zip file somewhere and run AnalysisTool.exe. When that loads, browse to the install folder (if it is not automatically detected), optionally run the tests first, and then generate a report (it will be saved in the same location as the Analysis Tool).

The report will contain system and game information, as well as your saved games. To reduce the file size, you can delete most of the saves from the zip (double click the zip file to open it in Windows Explorer, then browse down to the savegames folder).
