It's a joke. They are for VR. Lots of little jokes in the game.

I know, I'm Szaal the Necromancer, but I kept the Oglers for the entire game. Handy for lucky-looting. I have my main melee up to 9 Lucky Charm from gear+trait alone.

Obviously, the lucky-loot table isn't that much spicy, but rubies are p handy (and it's fun to collect all 7(?) variants of the pearls).
