Most game related Youtube videos are about gameplay, no doubt many of them skip the story. Jumpcuts, wanting to avoid spoilers, keeping the video more interesteing for the viewer (showing the more action oriented parts), etc. You can't really say you know what a game is about (much less an entire genre of games) by watching videos of it. Like I said, many of these games actually have great stories (talking about quality not preference). It's not exactly fair to brush off the efforts put in by the writers involved in the development of these games just because the main focus is "mindless" killing and looting. GTA games are 90% about running around gunning people down and blowing things up, yet I've heard nobody complain about a lacking story (a little less so for the latest installment but surely it's still decent in its oun right).
Again, you've made up your mind and that's fine. I just ask that you don't mislead newcomers that are willing to give these games a try.
