How do you heal after battle in DOS?
I'm assuming there is no bedroll like in dos 2.

If you have a character with the base healing spell, he/she'll automatically cast it on characters. Or is that a mod?

No portable beds. No after-battle heals. Only food/spells. Spamming food is the quicker/best option.

@wicked lester: that auto-heal would be from mod.

You can fast travel to nearest city to find a bed then teleport back using the pyramid iirc

Whith potions are very important and relax healing in a bed of a city o village after the battles .

There is a novice hydrosophist healing spell that is the best option because faster cooldown than the other I use. The other I use is a man at arms novice ability called cure wounds (I think). It is a longer cooldown out of combat and in combat it is only once per combat.

every character needs a healing ability. Unless your a warrior that healing ability is hydrosophist healing spell, every character who isn't a warrior needs 1 level in hydrosophist.

If your smart you will make every character with the basic list..

level 1 hydrosophist water spells, healing and rain
level 1 geomancer spells, for summon spider, oil, and rock
level 1 aero for teleport and wind of change
any archers level 1 scoundrel for haste, wings and invisibility

start your 2 main characters with summon spider, healing and what ever skill of their class you want to start with. Easy game. have fun. Oh, you need to bump constitution +1 at creation in order to summon the spider, so drop a stat and +1 con. Your party with summoned spiders is like having a total group of 2-4 more party members in battle.

Using food for healing is often overlooked, very cheap and very easy to craft, without requiring any point in Crafting or Blacksmithing.

If you want bedrolls, there is - at least - one mod that has bedrolls (or coffins for players with the Zombie talent ;-).

Another mod, Epic Encounters, might have automatic healing after combat I believe (not 100% sure), but I personally don't like the implementation because it uses character skills which triggers the skills' cooldowns. (I don't like my skills on cooldown when there is a "surprise attack".)

There is also one mod on the Nexus by "Abraxas" (modder's name) which does exactly that automatic healing. (And I think it might be the original source of Epic Enconter's healing implementation - if there is one in EE. Best look in EE's description.)

The disadvantage of the big mods is that they require starting a new playthrough, Abraxas' mod does not and it changes nothing else but the auto-healing stuff. The big mods change a lot.

If you're not using them in battle you can just set a teleport pyramid next to a bed and poof over whenever you need healing.

Fighters have the Cure Wounds spell
Rangers & Wayfarers have the First Aid spell
Wizards with the Hydrosophist skill have the Regeneration spell

Aside from healing potions (which are best saved for use during combat) every character is able to heal using food.

first aid spell isn't really a good healing spell, that is why unless your a fighter you want hydrosophist on your character a much better healing spell. First aid is mostly used as a weak healing spell that gets rid of a couple status effects, but its healing is so minor and its refresh time is too long to be useful. Cure wounds on fighters is nice, but every other character should have Hydrosophist to get regen spell

Slightly late to this, but an often overlooked out of combat heal is water of life. It is really the only group heal spell. It adds constitution to everyone, but also adds the vitality associated with the extra CON. But then when the spell wears off and the CON bonus is gone, the vitality stays. It is better than individual heals on everyone, especially when a battle ends and you're all standing in fire!

While I think that Water of Life is the best out-of-combat healing spell as well, it's generally overlooked because of its requirement of level 9. Most who ask about out-of-combat healing are in the early game, so Water of Life isn't really accessible to them.

EE does have automatic healing, but it doesn't use any skill cooldowns. Currently doing a run on it.

I am playing EE as well right now and there's no automatic healing, unless I am missing something.

Epic Encounters, not Enhanced Edition.

This has always been an annoyance when I come back to play this so after this thread brought it up again, I tried to make a mod for the first time ever, and it actually seems to work!

Give it a try if you like.
