Ranger can't hit?
With Bairdotr I get roughly 20% chance of hitting on even giant targets. This makes no sense. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

You sure you have a decent enough perception with her? In my experience that played a pretty big role in her ability to hit things. Ranged precision stance is also a must when using basic attacks with her.

What type of weapon are you using?

Perception, and distance affects the hit percentage. Also, an earth spell can raise the hit chance by 30%, have a mage cast it on the archer

As a ranger you should mostly be using special arrows and bow skills which all have a 100% hit chance. The only time you would be using a normal attack is when a enemy is stunned/knocked down.

Thanks for the replies. I use a crossbow on her, since I figured the higher damage would increase the damage of her skills (I have no idea if it actually works like that). As XenoEvil says I do mostly use skills on her to quite great effect. It's just quite annoying how she seems unable to hit the broad side of a barn considering she's supposed to be a ranged specialist.

I've found a way though: I bought the precision chance skillbook and just switch chances from damage to precision whenever I swap to basic attacks. Works a lot better.

Two other considerations:

Your Dexterity determines base hit chance with Crossbow. You must keep it as high as possible.

There is a very large to hit penalty when attacking enemies higher level than you. 1 level difference is manageable. 2 levels is a challenge. More than that is generally not worth trying.

If you have someone with Geo magic you have a move called blessing that cures curses and up your chances to hit by like 30% I use it all the time on her.
