Whats a recommended starting class?
In every RPG, m always the warrior.
I ve been playing RPG's for a while and I know I dont care for the ones that are complicated..
Ex: The engineer in G.W..
And Im a purist. Hybrid classes leave me thinking for hours about which ability to level.
So with that said; which is a pretty cool beginner class that isnt too complicated, but not a warrior?

Spoilers allowed? You will get a Ranger, Bairdotr, and a powerful Frost/Shock Mage, Jahan, in the first town for free, so I would recommend going for a Healer or a Tank. You can also swap the Ranger with a Rogue, he is hidden somewhere in a cave, after one or another fight against Undead enemies.

I am a purist as well and I would recommend pure Tank and hybrid Healer+Enchanter (Witch or Cleric, I'd say) as starting classes. Everything else you will pretty much get on your way through the game.

I absolutely love using an archer, you can straight line the upgrades ( dexterity/speed ) plus you find many arrows and can craft many of them. I prefer to go with the bow ( not crossbow ) because at level 14 you can find the most awesome bow, buff it a lot and it will last you till the end of the game.

I like starting with a witch, the geomancer summon spider is extremely handy early game.

As I said in another thread which asks this question:

IMO there is no such thing as best "starting" or "beginner" class. Any class can be good or bad, depending on how you build it. There is no one class that is "better" than the others. It's not like some classes are OP and others suck.

So it's best just to pick whatever you most want to play as, and then learn as you go along.
I went with a cleric and a wizard

As you get to choose as NPC an archer, a warrior, a scoundrel and a water/air mage in the first city:

-earth fire mage
-scoundrel/Archer

And after that, pick Jahan the water air mage and Madora or Baidotr

If you plan to take take lone wolf talent:
One mage with every school of magic
One Archer/scoundrel

And as always, personalize one of your characters to have the skill "walk in the shadows" (invisibility) from start.
To resolve puzzles, wingfeet skill is also needed or useful
