Unused starstones in inventory?

When I meet a starstone, it activates and turns into an inert stone. However, I discovered that I've got 3 unused starstones (not bloodstones) in my inventory. How to use them for the quest? I tried dropping and picking them up but nothing happened.

Impossible. At no point in the game are you able to pick up a Star stone. Either your game is very heavily modded, or whatever you got in your inventory aren't Star stones.

I didn't install any mods and it exactly says "star stone". I looked it up on the web and found this thread, where another user writes about aqquiring star stones as well.

Where do they talk about acquiring Star stones? They speak of a specific stone found as a boss reward on ground....

Oh. Those are Star Pebbles in the English version. They are found upstairs in Esmeralda's store and have no actual use in the game, other than the little amount of gold they can be sold for.
