is this game solo-able? (playing with just 1 character)
title

i plan buy both dos and dos2 but after watching some video turn out that in dos 1 you play with 2 character.
this is deal breaker for me. i rather love to solo games which is raise the game difficulty with less micro managing character.
i don't need any explanation like "you can just leave 1 character on the edge of map" or "you can do this instead to raise difficulty" etc.

so my question is : is the game playable with just 1 character? or is there a mod to make game able to play with just 1 character?

DOS1 is actually 4 character party game. At least unless you take two henchmens, several guards would cry out that you are understuffed. So closest what you can do is dual lone wolf run - both characters take Lone wolf talant at start so party is cut from 4 to just 2

perfect answer. thanks sir.
i put this game on low priority for now. might grab this once i ran out of game.
I disagree with the above person. This game has an achievement "Lone Wolf" and abilities specifically meant to play solo "Lone Wolf".

If you don't believe me, then I could show you on twitch.tv the talents/abilities that are designed specificially for playing a solo character. I don't remember any core story parts that require multiple characters yet. If you need a character standing on a pressure plate, then a barrel/chest could do the same job just fine. You can even carry multiple barrels/chests in your inventory wherever you go.

Ask me to show you all about it on twitch:
https://www.twitch.tv/mathinstructor

EDIT: If you want me to show you how playing with a "single" character works on twitch; just ask me in chat. I'll reload a new game and show you what it is like. The game forces you to start with two characters, but you aren't required to play both of them.

You are absolutely required to use 2 characters in this game, there are puzzles built around having at least 2 people. Lone Wolf would need to be a chosen trait on both individual main characters to lower the party down to 2.

I can only think of one treasure/secret that I can't do solo (king's tomb in Hunter's Edge). The rest are doable single player using teleport/weights/tricks to pass (in theory), unless Im forgetting something.
*Edit: quite a tedious task at times without two characters. I'd advise against this especially if you're inexperienced/know the tricks.

You can kill your ally to perform closest to single player, and allowed to walk through zones/maps solo (have not tested completely). However, the last boss zone requires the two players to be alive and present before entering, so that kills the idea of solo RPG, unless you're fine with resurrection your mate for required doors then killing them again.
*Edit: the dead body will tp with you throughout the whole game, so it's really a two character game.

@Woven I dunno about Hunters Edge, but I just got to Hiberheim and the whole labyrinth there is literally a series of puzzles, and the final one requires someone stepping on the rock to keep the door open while another hits the switch. I tried using a weight like with the puzzle right before it, but alas it didn't work. There's also the dungeon by the pirate cove in Cyseal that basically has one person step on a switch and another has to find the way to solve it or else you die. that's just 2 off the top of my head.

Ah, I was wondering which was the one u/Valkinaz was referring to. Good to know. :D

Though I wonder, it might be possible to toss the teleport pyramid through the stone door after opening it? Same with escaping the pirate trap, I know I had to bail out my first attempt with it :P

I did the King's Tomb solo. I'm definitely not going to replay the whole game just to prove it to you. I can't imagine what part you need multiple character's for. Did I skip something? Here's a video of the Kings tomb to remind you:

You can play solo through the entire game and teleport in characters any time you get stuck (need multiple characters). I don't remember any core story points where multiple characters were required; but I just got the amulet from wizard Z. Just barely exploring the center of "Dark Forest" now.

In addition, the game is easy to mod, which makes solo play extremely enjoyable. If you know how to mod that is: https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2/mods/28/

During my solo play, I did use multiple characters to finish some side quests. I don't consider side quests, side treasures, or any non essential items a requirement to finish the game.
I apologize, the mod link was to DoSpart2.

You can just do a simple google search and find everything; but just for the haters. I provided a link to prove they are real.

Chill bro. I wasn't hating on you or solo, if anything I was more inclined on how to do one. A simple "mod" answer would clear a lot of the arguments as well.

I was stuck on the telekinesis 6, stairway of the video. Didn't realize telekinesis can outreach teleport/strength toss.

I personally skipped all of those chests during my solo play. What did you find in those chests anyway? I always assumed they were worthless vendor trash.
