Think there's a mod to remove it though
I feel RPS adds excitement & dynamic fun to the game. Games without it, like DOS 2, are much more boring.
In DOS 2, all "persuasion" is won or failed solely based on to what extent you wasted a ton of points by dumping them into the Persuasion stat. There is no interactivity or dynamism or unpredictability in that system. And if you didn't waste a lot of points on it, then you can never Persuade anyone of anything in that game. That RPS-lacking system is therefore not fun at all.
As for the OP saying he can never win RPS in DOS 1, there's two solutions to that:
1. Boost the stat that increases your odds/speed of winning.
2. Quicksave before every roll, and then if the roll doesn't go your way, press Quickload. Repeat as many times as necessary. You'll always be a winner if you do that.
No, I'm seriously furious about this feature right now.
I think it's nice to have characters argue about it, presenting their different point of view, but I don't want to be forced to a decision by total randomness. That's just nonsense.
It's good as a tie-breaker if you either don't know what to choose or if you're arguing with your friend in coop. But as long as you agree in the end, this whole system ruins SP hardcore.
What's the strat?
I did two of these with only choose the same every time.
And once I lost by one round and the other time I won by one round.
It only picks random 50/50 between the remaining choices.
Maybe with a little tweak in one direction according to the difference in charisma or something like that, not know the stats right now that are ingame.
Why would anyone waste time programming an AI for the rock, paper, scissors game? It plays perfectly with Random(1,3, integer).
If argument with Main Character 90% of the case :
* Next move usually to the right
e.g if the first move use scissors, then next move mostly stone.
Only in few event that not follow this rule.
* Usually continue from the last argument
If argument with NPC, 90% of the case, next move usually to the left.
e.g if the first move use scissors, then next move mostly paper.
Oh yea, it's so great that I got the chance to persuade myself with a random minigame.
If this was directed to me, then there is no "revisit ge game now", as I'm already playing it again after a real long time.
It's random. And it's garbage as long as you have to play through this against yourself.
So now, I simply avoid this minigame by having one main character agree with the other on the second or third option, depending on which outcome I wanna have, which sadly skip out great dialogues...
