Where is Homestead?

I keep seeing references to Homestead, but how do I get there? I'm about to enter the Phamtom Forest, so I'm sure I'm far enough through the game that I should have been there by now.
Am I missing something obvious, or has my game gone wrong?

Oh right. I did wonder. But there don't seem to be any 'rooms' there. Do I have to do something with the statues at the end of each hallway?

The first portal to be opened (besides the observatory, when you are first teleported to the homestead) is the Hall of Heroes, to the right just before you get to where the weaver is, and Zixzax, if he is not beside a portal or the statue.
If you didn't do so already, enter the Hall of Heroes, talk to an NPC seated at the table (about half way down; check the mini-map for green dots), then with a main character still selected as leader, return to the main section of the homestead through the portal. After that, you should be able to follow Zixzax around as he opens a few more portals.

If the homestead is under attack, that must be stopped before more portals will be opened. To do so, you need to destroy a large blood stone in norther Luculla Forest, using tenebrium damage.

You can only interact with the statue when there are elemental portals to be opened. The tree up the left stairs where you teleport to the homestead is only relevant after all the other portals are activated (except the Forbidden Zone one, which can not be opened).

Thanks very much. I'll have to have another look - but I suspect my game has bugged and nothing has opened. Which would be a pain because it was absolutely hours of play ago.

Do you have to talk to the statue to open even the Hall of Heroes?
Because homestead is under attack currently, so maybe I just missed my chance to open any portal, and have to wait now.

To answer my own question - in case anyone else has the same problem in future:

The issue was that I never re-visited End of Times until it was already under attack, so the hall of heroes never opened. Once I stopped the attack on End of Times, the very next time I visited, Zixzax showed me to the first portal.
