Final boss battle -argh
Hey, I am stuck on the final boss. I fear I'm just under-levelled at level 19. I've used just about all my scrolls to get to this point so only have some health potions really.

Is there anything I can do to get out and level up or is there some sort of tactic that I need to follow?

My main problem is the dragon teleports to lower left corner and uses fire+water spray which instantly kills Astarte. She doesn't survive even with over 75% HP. I have no water or fire protection spells left.

Any ideas?

I have some resurrect spells but the game ends as soon as she dies with no option to resurrect her.

She also doesn't heal herself at all, is this normal or bugged?

Finally I'm on normal difficulty so nothing specially hard up to this point.

In my game plays Astarte doesn't heal/prioritize it. I've never seen the boss TP/move. Perhaps if you use a decoy/summon/character and move them next to the boss, the boss will be busy with melee combat/targets and won't focus on the NPCs.

Since you're not combat ready and stucked, you just need to cheese and reload for every turn to matter, boss is susceptible to stuns and such. Tenebrium heals the boss so don't use those weapons.

hmm ok, this is going to take hours then to save scum which makes me feel it's not really worth it.

it's a shame because I managed to win all other fights at lower levels. I guess it is the Final Boss for a reason, but it would have helped if the game said level 20+ is recommended, and that level 19 is going to be almost impossible.

You can lower the difficulty to Explorer in the options.

You would need a save before entering the First Garden to be able to level up more, then redo the Whispers of the Void section, etc (though once you've been through it, it doesn't take as long, and fights would be easier if you do level, and stock up on scrolls and potions, check for better equipment and new skills, etc).

There is a trader just before the final fight, where you may be able to restock some potions and scrolls. His inventory would restock after an hour, if you leave the game running.

You can try sneaking to get characters into position either before the conversation is triggered, or while one main character is occupied with the conversation.
If you throw grenades on the ground (as an item, not using them as a grenade) before combat, if you have any, targeting an exploding grenade (ie nail, firestorm) can cause a chain reaction after combat starts. When the dialogue with Astarte begins, you can switch to the other characters and position them, cast buffs, etc, before switching to the main character in the conversation to continue. Of course buffs and summons will not last long standing around in real time before combat starts.

Have at least one character standing near Astarte with at least one healing skill (more skills and/or scrolls would be better), and summons can help.

There is A new savegame editor for Enhanced Edition[forums.larian.com].

You could also use CheatEngine to enable god mode, unlimited consumables or boost the character stats, etc.
For the install you would either need to uncheck some extra 'offers', or install it while offline. There is also a no-install rar file on the downloads page[cheatengine.org]. If you don't already have an archive manager that can handle rar files, try the freeware 7-Zip[7-zip.org].

Here is a CheatEngine table[www.dropbox.com] I downloaded from a cheatengine.org forum topic when it was still available. It wasn't updated for the latest version of the game, but works for what I've tried with it (adjusting abilities and talents, god mode and I think I tested the unlimited consumables).

Start the game and load a save, open the table (I just extracted it into the CheatEngine install folder), click the 'Select a process to open' button at the top left (highlighted with a flashing box cycling between red and green), select EoCApp.exe (preceded by a hex number, ie 00001FD0-EoCApp.exe) and click the Open button and then Yes. In the bottom list, select Hero Pointers, then go through Hero 1 to 4 to identify the right character. There is an 'Upgrade Points' section where you can add attribute, ability and talent points, and sections for each of those where you can remove/adjust values. Double click the value to change, and when you are done, switch back to the game to save/load (some things take effect immediately, character changes require a save/load to get them to show up in-game).

If you can not select the boxes at the bottom in CheatEngine, exit the program and the game and start over. That happened to me a couple times. There may be an easier fix, but I haven't used CheatEngine enough to bother trying anything else.

Wow, thank you for all this. It's really helpful.

I'll try some of these things out, I may just lower the difficulty, but the other tools sounds good too.
