Quality of life?
I only found old answers that I hope are outdated so i figured I'd ask.

Is there any reasonable way to heal like a bedroll from 2?
This is near FF11 levels of time wasting.
I have a hydro mage and even with another it would make an obnoxious task tedious at best.

There are some other issues like weapons breaking in one fight...
but this is a deal breaker. :percy:

The only alternative is to prepare "food" consumables, which you can easily spam off-combat. It's what I do to keep me reasonable and sane.

Otherwise, u/FrauBlake mentioned one of his mod, "xc_bags" has your bed. So you can look at mods for answers.

I'd just like to mention, the PS4 console version of the game "does" have a better quality of life. You can spam the Man-Of-Arm [Cure-Wound] without cooldown off-combat. AND you can cast spells without animation lock, meaning using multiple character casting heal at the same time.

No idea why PC, with its online patching, made things more difficult.

Edit: Food, prepare for the HP nuisance. Learn blacksmith, prepare for the weapon nuisance.

I agree that the lack of a Bedroll is very annoying and tedious, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "deal breaker."

And especially not when citing D:OS 2 as the example, given that that game has a much more severe and truly deal-breaking problem: namely, it's terribad "armor system" which completely ruins the game and totally annihilates all the strategic choices and tactical depth out of it.

D:OS 1's lack of Bedroll is a very small & insignificant problem compared to that.

What's wrong with the armor system in DOS2? I haven't played it yet but plan to after I finish 1.

" it's terribad "armor system" which completely ruins the game and totally annihilates all the strategic choices and tactical depth out of it."

Well I though the opposite, divinity 1 is just about save scumming since every cc is luck based.
Fights are either you getting smashed cause your cc didn't pass and the ennemy cc passed or the complete opposite.
With the armor system of divinity 2 there is no luck at all and you need to think the fight more.
It's just my opinion.
Oh and if you really dislike the armor system there is a mod that get rid of it

Dos2 doesn't have the SPD attribute, so you can't gain AP.

CC rolls are indeed tricky, but I find myself never needing to save&reload midcombat for roll outcome. It's an abuse one can take advantage of, but not required.

I agree, I like the alternative proactive strategy of shielding over RNG CC (most of the time)
It looks like BG3 will have more RNG again, but in fun ways. :HappyMask:

"Deal breaker" may have been a bit hyperbolic, but it's not far off when you view what you could be playing. Like there is this moment where I'm in between heals and most likely fixing my gear where I'm just like "why?" I could go play P5 Royal or all kinds of stuff, more coming soon too. Most games that are impacted by age (quality of life) don't strike as harsh as this one, I like FF12 or Xenoblade for example even though you waste tons of time in those. :torielsad:

I'll prob get through it one day, but it's def not inviting. :fardy:

The armor system favors one damage source compositions of parties. You can't CC an enemy till their armor is broken. Which boils every fight down to focus one guy down till you can CC him etc. I HATED it. Played through it and managed to have a semi decent time but it really does limit the strategy. In the first game, I could lay insanely intricate traps for my enemies and lovely cc chains. I'm not sure why they hated that style of combat. I found it more enjoyable than the slog 2 became.
Also, the enhanced edition healing is..problematic. The original DoS (the one I beat years ago) you could easily get your healing spells to have no cooldown and it made downtime ooc a non-issue. I'm not sure why Larian seems to keep taking steps backwards from DoS. I really hope they pull off BG3 better.

That's strange :/ Were you playing with 4 characters or physical damage ? I only played mages and lone wolf and I never really had issues with breaking the armors and put my cc so we might have different experiences with it

I even had to use the mod for 500% life/armor on bosses to make them enjoyable since they were too easy to burst and were no treat at all

Also, from either Magic bags or the 6 character mod - the only ones I have - allow for healing spells to be automatically cast by any caster with Regeneration you aren't currently controlling. Out of combat, anytime I have any characters that are damaged, Jahan auto casts Regeneration. It still uses a cooldown but it's less than 30 seconds, probably much less.
red255 Jun 4, 2020 @ 9:51pm
Jahan's regeneration ends up being 1 turn cooldown when he has high late game INT.

its still annoying using the spell. people should probably just automatically regenerate HP outside of combat like the monsters do. I mean damage something, run away. its HP regens.

why doesn't yours?

that said its not generally that big of a deal, don't take damage, eat food. etc.

On top of having to waste time healing; my other most hated time waster is sending all damaged gear to one character, having to select the repair hammer again after every repair, sending it all back, and re-equipping every single piece.

This is not true at all. You can repair with any character, and while your stuff is equipped, if at least one person in your party has a skill in Blacksmithing.
