If you drop a pickaxe and try try again, or switch to a companion, if applicable, do they take a pickaxe from the other character, or do you get a 'I don't have the right tool for mining' line?
Try verifying local files: in the Steam library, right click on Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition and select Properties, switch to the Local Files tab and then click on the 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache...' button.
Maybe try dropping both pickaxes, save, reload and pick them up again.
I'm not able to mine any ore and I have tried the suggestions above. Help! Not sure if there's another way forward in the story without being able to mine tenebrium.
Maybe you need that bag first, because you can touch Tenebrium and you need the Bag to collect it.
There are plenty of Iron Rocks in the Cave where you fought the Arhu-Funkensprüher-5000 or in the Cave of the White Witch.
Do you have the same issue with iron?
If you use xc_Bags have you read the Changelog?
In the 'Mod changes' book in your inventory.

The Blacksmith Axe now also serve as the mining Axe, the old pickaxe is now only a weapon and does no longer work as mining Axe and you need at least 1 Point in Blacksmith for mining.
Are you sure you used the right tool?
