Can't find Summon Undead warrior spell ?
I put a point in witchcraft just to get the summon spell on my fighters but can't find it anywhere.

I've checked the two vendors that sell witchcraft spells countless times and they never sell the summon undead warrior spell. I have also checked all the other vendors multiple times and never seen thtis spell book for sale.

I even snuck past the higher level area with invis to reach Silverglen vendors even though I'm too low level to go there yet. Still no skill book.

Then I levelled up to six, got some items with plus crafting and got a henchman up to crafting 5 so I could make skill books but I have spent hours crafting witchcraft spells without gettting a single summon undead warrior spell. I tried using different levels of crafting skill to try to improve the chances to create that spell scroll. Nothing works. I have seen every other spell multiple times.

In total frustration I decided to start a new game and customize the characters with witchcraft and choose the summon undead spell for their starting skill. Surprise, Surprise. The game doesn't let you choose summon undead skill at character creation.

So why aren't we allowed to play the game the way we want? Why so much BS to get in the way of someone enjoying themselves and having a little fun.

So they don't even let you use your characters skills while every little cat and dog or cockroach can cast every spell at you. I mean they cheat so much with their unlimited healing spells, long range ressurections to full health multiple times. They can run all over the battlefield and cast multiple spells on the same turn while we can barely move at all if we take any actions.

I should have realiized sooner how this game is designed to be frustrating instead of enjoyable. I mean it's so obvious how the developers think when they put their loot chests in unreachable areas behind lava and endless hidden booby traps and gates and doors that can't be opened. Guardians that are invincible. Suicide bombers. So many situations that take away from the potential it had to be good.

There is a skill book in the Undertaker's Hut in eastern Cyseal, south of the church.

Other than that, keep checking Shereth / Vometia, and Peat, once you open the earth elemental portal in the homestead. AFAIK you should be able to craft it, as well.

Yes it can be crafted. The only skillbooks that are not craftable are Decaying Touch, Mass Healing, Summon Poison Slug and Netherswap, because no scrolls exist for these spells.

It is also not possible to craft skill books for Mute, Vampiric Touch, Resurrect or Magical Unlock.

Bring Witchcraft to 2 and pick up Summon Armored Undead Decapitator, is is an upgraded version and the book can be found much easier! Put a point into Earth and pick up "Summon Spider" if you need a summon at creation to get you to that point!

That requires level 9. I was looking for something early.

Thankyou for the informative reply larian. I did get the book from the undertakers hut and after about 90 minutes more crafting spells, I got a summon spell and used it to make a skill book.

Gonna disagree with you here. Summon Undead Warrior costs 4 AP versus SAUD's 8 AP cost. For cannon fodder purposes, I prefer SUW due to much lower cost. For offensive purposes, I wouldn't summon. Also, SUW requires 1 Witchcraft. SAUD requires 2 Witchcraft for 10 AP cost and 3 Witchcraft for 8.

Attacks of opp + knockdown chance + unique skill + better all around stats = much better

AP doesn't matter as summons should drop first round and 2 extra skill points are beyond the point of not worthy of mention... For a single point summon spider trumps SUW...

In your usage case, SAUD will cost 10 AP. All of the extra benefits of the upgrade come at the cost of 6 extra AP relative to SUW. For that cost, you could cast midnight oil + throw one grenade or throw 2 grenades. So the choice is a much better summon or a summon plus a group of enemies that are now slowed, poisoned or burning (pick 2). The second option is much better.

AP does matter because battle can often be decided in the first turn. If you mean summoning to initiate battle (thus negating the AP cost), then SAUD (or any powerful, expensive spell) will be better in that case.

As for 2 skill points, that would depend on how tight your build is.

I don't see how the spider beats SUW. Summon Spider costs 7 AP vs SUW's 4 AP cost. Both of them serve the purpose of cannon fodder. I will concede that the spider is better early game due to availability.

SUW is optimal at 2 in witchcraft, at 1 it costs 6 AP not 4.

So it's more 4 extra AP, not 6 (unless you compare witchcraft 1 to witchcraft 3).

SUW is a great default summon, because it's the cheapest and it fulfills a summon's purpose (especially when you factor in the "Destroy Summon" spell).
SAUD remains a great summon when you get at 2 in witchcraft, as your second pick after Rapture, for all the fights where you precast it. It is available at level 9, so it's a good opener until level 15: during all mid-game. Against enemies who do have the Destroy Summon spell, at least you didn't blow SUW or the spider summon cooldowns, and you fall back on them then.

I wouldn't call the 2 AP penalty not worthy of mention, as I wouldn't consider much summoning it with the penalty (precasting it is OK, likewise precasting spells from wands).

edit:
I wouldn't invest 2 in witchcraft just to get that summon, since that was the topic I suppose. The spider or SUW are indeed better for a non-mage, since they only require 1 in investment.
