How to play classic edition?
Purchased enhanced edition recently, didn't come with classic version. I have made up my mind though and want to play classic edition first. Any ideas if I can still get it anywhere? Thanks

Edit/answer:

I contacted larian studios support email and they clarified the situation.

''Unfortunately, the D:OS 2 Eternal Edition does not include D:OS Classic.
It was not included because it caused some confusion offering the original and updated releases of the game, there is less need for the original release now than when the Enhanced Edition was first released (one of the reasons it remained available with the purchase of the EE is due to the change in system requirements in Windows, with Classic being 32 bit and using DirectX 9c, while the EE is 64 bit and requires a GPU with hardware support for DirectX 11), and in general the EE being more up to date and a better experience.

You may be able to request a refund for the Eternal Edition, and buy the D:OS 2 Divine Edition and D:OS EE Collector's Edition separately; that would include all the same extras, though cost slightly more, as the D:OS EE CE is a 2 pack.
Since repurchasing D:OS is an option, with the GOG version there is an entry in the library after selecting the EE to contact GOG support to request the Classic version of the game also be added to your library. On Steam a couple people have reported contacting Steam support to get them to remove D:OS EE (presumably just the game, not the DLC extras) so they could buy it separately, and a couple of others said that Steam support refused to do so (it could be purchased on an alternate account).''

You are suppose to receive a copy of the classic edition when you buy the enhanced edition. Just install the classic edition.

I did contact them but this is what they said:

''Hello,

As previously indicated, the Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Eternal Edition package only includes Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition.

The Store page for Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition makes no indication of including the Classic version.

If you have any further questions, please let us know - we will be happy to assist you.

Thanks for using Steam''

It used to be the case that if you bought the Enhanced Edition of DOS 1, then you got the Classic Edition for free at the same time. I'm not sure if they changed that recently, but if they did, then that's real shady IMO.

Although I'm not sure how it works with the DOS 2 Eternal Edition package.

But in any case, I do find it very strange that Steam is telling you don't & aren't supposed to have the Classic edition of DOS 1 after having bought that package which you did.

I'm not sure whether it's correct or not that you aren't supposed to have it as part of that package. But even if you aren't supposed to have it, then that's still shady for them to have left it out IMO, because they morally should be giving it to you within that package, and there's no good reason for that package to exclude the Classic edition.

I wish I could give you a better solution to your problem, but I don't know why you are running into this crap, so I'm not sure what to tell you.

Maybe refund the package you bought (if you are eligible for a refund) and then buy a different version that will add the Classic version to your library.

Thanks for trying to help.

Ori definitive edition gave me a copy of the original version of the game, I wish they did the same for this game still. I am just going to give up and play the enhanced edition.

Seems like you can't even buy the classic edition anymore. When you get to the classic edition store page, all buying options are the enhanced edition.

I bought Divinity: Original Sin - The Source Saga bundle. It has Classic edition as well (description doesn't say so, but it is included - you can verify yourself on SteamDB service). :steamhappy::winter2019happydog::cozydarkseer:

I just bought Divinity: Original Sin - The Source Saga bundle.
It advertised it only came with D:OS EE and D:OS 2 but it came with;

D:OS classic
D:OS EE
D:OS 2
D:OS 2 Companion: Sir Lora the Squirrel

Pretty cool 👍

I am not trolling, nor demanding people to like what I like. I am just really curious:

why would you prefer classic over EE?
As far as I understand the changes in story are not significant, you will just be playing an older version of the game and it takes several hours to finish.
Is it the mechanics of EE compared to the classic? If you have not played either, I don't think the mechanics of Classic would seem to you better than the EE.
