Who destroyed the Lucula Mines ? And why ?
I was dumb-founded to learn from Lawrence that Lucula Mines got destroyed.

Last I remember was running for my life from those 3 indestructible death knights and barely making it out of there alive. Just to learn that the whole mine got destroyed after my escape. Who destroyed it and why ?

It is destroyed (filled with lava) when you meet Leandra, presumably as a side effect of summoning her Death Knights or as a way to cover tracks.

Here's my video where I show exactly when it gets destroyed, but if you want a storytelling reason - your guess is as good as mine.

At least for one thing we can be sure - not everything got destroyed. The dread knights are indestructible and still must be lurking inside :)

My theory is that the mines are destroyed in order to troll the player (just like Braccus' meteor spell is designed to troll the player). I ended up missing out on all the loot that drops in the areas near where Leandra appears, because I thought I'd come back and pick it up later while there was no pressure. Yet little did I know that would be impossible, so my sweet loot became permanently lost to the Void.

Death Knights you are running from are the exact same ones that patrol the mine, just teleported to your location. This is why Leandra doesn't summon any in the video - I've already killed them.

If you follow the trick I've shown, you should be ale to return to mines after getting 100+ fire resist, trigger the dialogue that destroys it and have a fancy stroll through the lava-filled mine. I imagine all the loot would be still in place if you've left any, including mineable veins.

I believe they are more than 3 dread knights patrolling the mines.

There are 4. One is indeed lost forever to the universe. Maybe he's one of DK's later in the game we'll never know.

I missed Leandra's scroll on my first pass. Only found about it in the online guides. Then went back to see why I missed it and found out why. You know that blue protection shield of her room...well I thought it is impassable first. I felt like idiot when I went back.

So what are you saying ? That you went into the mines for the first time through the back door from the forest, read Leandra's scroll, and then re-entered through the main entrance thus making defeated the knights ?
DoomyDoom Jul 7, 2018 @ 7:23am
No, you cannot enter through that backdoor until you exit through it. The order goes like this:
1) Optional: get Leandra's Blood from Immaculate cathedral and steal tenebrium proficiency book from Attenbrah if you want more all characters to be able to pick up Tenebrium stuff from mines.
2) Enter the mines normally
3) Sneak past DKs normally, get to the room where you meet Leandra
4) Jump at least 1 character over the Leandra's spawn trigger with some form of teleportation (~4:40-4:50 in the video).
5) Go through the mirror. This triggers the "Mines got destroyed" quest update and teleports everyone across the trigger so you don't trip it.
6) Get Leandra's Spell and all that stuff in blue-shielded room, then go out through the mirror to the forest.
7) You can now go to Lawrence or whatever the guy in the mining town is called to hand in the mine quest for XP.
8) Get Leandra's Blood if you skipped (1), craft DK Bane skillbook
9) Go to mines via the front entrance or Rift Travel, enjoy killable DKs.
10) As long as you don't trigger that dialogue with Leandra, you can go in and out as you please.

huh. when you do this do you remember how much XP does Lawrence give for saving the mine ? Dont tell me it was over 3500 because this would legitimize that the game prompts the player to use obvious glitchy way of doing the quest.

Ah, I missed this part I guess. Won't they be a bit hard to kill at this level though?

No, logic doesn't work like that, sorry. It's just a bug in a game, nothing more, nothing less.

Nothing "prompts" you to teleport over some random stairs. The fact that you haven't done that on your playthrough and haven't understood how to get this bug until I've explicitly stated the steps necessary is enough of a testament, should you need any. Because you did what a normal player would have done - walked forward. And so did I, and I imagine just about everyone else.

I usually do the mines dead last. You can see I'm level 15 on the video at 1:16 when I hover over Madora's portrait.

Sorry I didnt explain the issue very well. See, the normal player gets 3500 XP by reporting back to Lawrence and letting him know the mine got destroyed. My point is this - if you apply this glitch does Lawrence acknowledge that the mine was saved ? And if yes, does the game reward you over 3500 XP in that case ?

No. The game treats the situation as if the mines were destroyed, because the journal entry for "mines are destroyed" is set when you use Astarte's mirror. There is no way to "save" the mines from the plot perspective, the only resolution is that they are destroyed. Journal entries will be exactly as I've shown them at the beginning of the video.
