Sadly though he has the most interesting questline although it's very cliché. They're all great though. All of the quests have good writing, interesting plots and add a lot to the game and the characters.
That's all a matter of opinion of course but I really think all the companions quests are top notch.
As for Scoundrels, it wasn't nerfed. Stealth was nerfed in the enhanced version to the point of it being almost unusuable to give you an advantage in fights, as opposed to the original release of the game where it was completely OP. You can still play that version if you want, I think.
I agree 100%. I can't stand Jahan. He's inherently annoying IMO. That's why I never took him in my party (other than very briefly) even though I wanted the utility of the skills he has.
Bairdotr started out with a very interesting concept, that is being raised by a bear animal as her mother, yet they dropped the ball by never developing that concept at any point in the game. She she should have been a lot less human and more animalistic/savage, but the game never conveys that. They also missed tons of amazing opportunities for her to provide insightful comments about how and why animals are better than humans in a lot of ways (kind of like what Spock does on the original Star Trek show).
As well, I wanted to meet Bairdotr's bear mother. That would have been way more interesting than meeting her cliched & one-dimensional ex-bf. Her quest would have been better if the goal was to reunite her with her bear family.
The culmination of the Madora questline is almost amazing, except that in order to make it end in a "good" way, you have to make ridiculously convoluted choices at random moments throughout the whole game that have no reasonable relevance to the moment in question. Those choices also require you to insult & undermine your Madora companion in order to make the "right" choice according to the game. That makes no sense either. From the game's point of view, you have to be a jerk to your ally in order to be "good." IMO they shouldn't be forcing that philosophy onto the player, especially since the path they dictate towards that end is illogical.
In addition, the culmination moment of Madora's story is also fubared because the main characters are the shotcallers, not Madora, so they should have the power/authority to reign her in and decide that she does, or doesn't, do.
Another problem with Madora is that they were trying too hard to make her sound like a stupid person. She struck me as a parody of George W. Bush from real-life. So that killed my immersion in the game and I didn't appreciate the real-life political implications of that.
Wolgraff, I have no interest in. I never took him in my party but I did perform the quest to restore his voice. But hearing him speak did not give me any feeling of fulfillment. I was like, "oh meh, who cares. Now go back to standing idle around my Homestead for eternity. Bye."
In general, I think DOS 2 is a lot worse than DOS 1. But one area where DOS 2 excels over DOS 1 is in the characterization/stories of the companions.
Not crazy about Jahan, but he is powerful.
The Wolgraff character is great and funny, his reaction to the mayor was hilarious. It was the only time I have used a scoundrel, don't care for that class.
I've always been very partial to the archer class. Bairdotr...who came up with that name...she bites people in the face.:)
I don't think it's a parody, but I think it's a great thing that I could finish the quests of the companions I don't like without them being in the party. All games should be designed in this way. Being forced to take them when I don't really want to would have been a chore.
