Help With Star Stones\Inert Stones\Blood Stones And Guardian Door

Greetings.

I am finding conflicting information. Some information indicates that the number of star stones really is not a factor in opening the guardian door in the Source Temple, but rather the key is to open all of the portals in the Homestead, is that correct?

I believe I have all of the Homestead portals opens except for the Garden.

And those inert stones? Are they used in the Homestead and\or for the the door in the Source Temple, whatever the case may be? If I do actually needs stones to open the door, how many and what type?

Man, at this point I just want to finish the game. The quest system is so vague and nonspecific. I don't play consistently enough to keep everything in my head in order progress at a sensible pace. After a few years, and over a hundred hours, I need to finish already!

I believe you only need to open all the portals, the final being the Chapel. So basically..... 12/16 stones in the game.

I don't think the inert ones do anything. I just put them in my SH's backpack, to keep track.

Only a few of the stones are a pain to find. The one inside the Hiberheim prison's iron maidan was random.

two're linked. it's finding star stones that opens portals at homestead. either you come across them directly or you find blood stones and convert those to star stones (by using them). in my playthrough both were necessary but i didnt need to convert all my blood stones

Thanks for the reples everyone. A new problem. As as far as I can tell I have collected all of the bloodstones and such. I have extras in my inventory but . . .

There seems to be no journal updates, I can't open the Guradian door and there is one unactivated portal. I have visited Zixzax, teleported in and out, but nothing. It seems I am at dead end. Any suggestions?

You have to have used or found a total of 12 stones to open all the portals in the Homestead but you have to go through each portal to have the journal update and the door to open. Any unused blood stones beyond the 12 then can be used in the final fight as they ressurect and heal all party members.
