I have the GOG version and I don't see any 2.6 version listed. The latest version that GOG lists for me is version 2.0.119.430 CN.
However, I don't recommend to use the CN version, as it has a bug in it that causes the tooltip text that is supposed to appear when you hover over a skill in order show you the skill's level, simply not to display when you hover over the skill, which is hugely detrimental to the gameplay experience.
Whereas the previous, non-CN version doesn't have that bug is therefore a much superior version.
If the Steam version forces users to use the CN version with that bug in it, then that really sucks for Steam users. And that might also mean that if you are on the GOG version, then you'll need to use the latest & bugged version in order to Crossplay with Steam users who are using the latest & bugged version.
However, I don't know how the Steam version works as I don't own it. Perhaps somehow the bug I mentioned only affects GOG users and not Steam users. Someone who has the game on Steam can clarify that point.
But even if the bug doesn't affect Steam users, then it still affects you if you are GOG user who is using the bugged CN version. In other words, if a Steam users is using a CN version that is not bugged for them, then it will still be bugged on your screen if you are using the GOG CN version (or likewise for your partner if they are needing to use the bugged CN version to have the same version as you are using on Steam).
So to simplify my point: the bug in the CN version may well fubar the ability to have a good Crossplay experience, unless both players are able to use a non-bugged version of the game, i.e. version 2.0.119.430 (A) --- which does not have the tooltip bug in it.
